When it rains it pours:

Hawks player Jarrad Boumann has informed the Club he was involved in an incident at approximately 2.45am on Sunday morning.

He indicated he was leaving a nightclub with a friend and in search of a taxi when a verbal exchange with a group of men escalated.

Jarrad stated he acted in self defence after being repeatedly kicked by a number of people while he was on the ground, and during the altercation injured his hand.

He is required to give a statement to police.

Without all the details, the Club is not in a position to make a determination of fault for the incident until this matter is finalised by police.

Agreed with Nev.
It will distract the media long enough to prevent them from acknowledging we just smashed the premiership favourites without arguably the best player in the league playing for us.
Clarko needs to teach Boumann how to use the open-hand chuck-norris punch :D

Sounds like Renouf 2.0.

Hope he is dealt with severely by the club.

No need for this rubbish with six games to go before finals.

Given his year, I would have thought he'd be busting a gut to get into form and fitness to hopefully get picked against the Suns or Port.

There are parallels...

Very disappointing for a number of reasons, least of all losing some much needed tall depth.

Did anyone hear some of the comments on Footy Classified? Specifically, the one from Grant Thomas, suggesting something along the lines of 'there's no such thing as self-defence at 2:45'. I agree there's no defence for being out that late on a Sunday night, but to comment so hastily about a situation where a poor bloke was set upon by a few thugs is pretty poor.

Grizz, have we lost him because of the injury he sustained during the incident or becuase of a club imposed sanction?

Grant Thomas is and always has been a gumpy bum. o_O

Are the players allowed out that late on a Sunday night? If they are, then there is no issue, just luck of the draw. The majority of posters on this board sub 25/26 have been out late on a Sunday night (if not working on Monday).

KOLOKOTRONIS

He was out on the Saturday night! I'm fairly certain the players are allowed out on the weekend aren't they? and TBH 2.45 is a fairly reasonable time to be going home (good luck getting a cab though!)

As much as I like J-Bo, he's let his teammates down with this, IMO, regardless of whether he's acting in self-defence or not. What happens if, god forbid, Gibbo and Schoenmaker injure themselves in the next few weeks? J-Bo is no longer available to provide key defender depth because of a completely avoidable incident (ie., he could have gone out and enjoyed himself but been home at an earlier hour, not still looking for a way home at 2.45am).

Per the HFC injury report He is now (TBC), assume his season is over and i'd expect he has played his last game for the club. If so, a wasted pick resembling Rhan (rugby) Hooper.

Also note Lance Franklin is 1 week and Hodge and Ellis are not on the report. If Ellis can get a couple of games and build form it will be a real positive.

He was a gamble pick in the first place...know a couple of Dogs supporters in the know, who advised that he had a few off-field issues...
