Just make a bloody stadium at that E-Gate site already, it's perfect for a stadium and ample parking space. with the bay just a few hundred meters away to create an interesting environment and different challenges like Whitten Oval.

If the Vic government was visionary enough it would also be great to have the proposed beach-side tram from St. Kilda to Port Melbourne terminate at the stadium too.

Seems like the AFL is just going circles and in more circles.

It sounds all good in theory but I wouldn't agree to ANY TERMS with Vladimir.Soon as we sign it off to agreement with the AFL,they will find a way of taking it over.
He lies too much. He's already lied on a few things to the public then comes out later and says I was wrong.

He'll be gone soon. Really, the writing is on the wall. He was good for the game but I really think the past few years he's lost the plot.

Just talking hypotheticals... What if Benny became boss of the AFL? Do you think he'd shaft us?

Would not happen but hypothetically he'll probably act like a guy that just married into 17 whining step children. The favourite son will still get the drum stick though ;)

Being a Richmond person,he would be under pressure from day one.

I'd stay at Tigerland if I was him.

You can already sense the fear from opposition supporters about us making 8th spot let alone 4th or the premiership LMAO.

Vlad's a bit worried also.
Would be perfect for him to disrupt our club for a few years right at the time when his cashcows GWS and Gold Coast are peaking.

Dirty rat he is.

It's up to all Richmond members to upgrade their memberships and keep the club healthy off field.

Just forgoe a pot of beer every week or an extra meal at the restaurant.

WE must keep this club rolling in money so we don't need Vlad holding up a rabbit to our noses then taking our ground over ,never to be seen again by Richmond supporters.

Smasha, what are you afraid that he might do? Not trolling or looking for a flame fest. I just don't see what the negatives are of having our ground used for some low-drawing games.

It's about to happen anyway. the non afl and MCC members section at the G only holds 50k - we officially can no longer guarantee all members access to our blockbuster games. Reality is when we get to 70k you will need an upgraded membership to do this,

Smaller stadiums for interstate games just bring in that same dynamic
This is not just about to happen each week as more than 20% of our memberships do not front on average to a game. Nearly 20% of our membership do not have reserved seats (many Country memberships) and 6K of those remaining members are AFL members also included within our membership figures. Not even the Pies who are hopping to hit 80K membership sell out the general admin tickets each week. Only 4 - 5 blockbuster games are actually sold out in the public area by the pies and die-hard fans know to get their tickets for those games early. They (Collingwood) deal with it and so will RFC.

It would not be worth building an AFL ground at PRO that holds < 30K. Otherwise only one game maybe 2 max could be played there a week. Richmond must look at any deal the AFL proposes for we could end up very wealthy from it.

RFC must however ensure that headquarters remain PRO in perpetuity and that we do not end up an AFL nomad like Melbourne. I think it would be foolish to just write off any proposal from the AFL.

There are a few issues here which are getting a bit mixed up with each other:

1) Pies are already selling restricted memberships like the Dons, where people sign on knowing they will miss the big games. This is not an issue for us at 52k, but it will be at 75k. This was my point, the notion that membership guarantees access will disappear soon if we hit our 3-0-75 targets. The old guarantee of a finals ticket is pretty much gone, and guaranteed access won't be far behind (assuming we hit 75k).

This is a good thing though, as it makes those buying a membership fork out more for reserved seats (which is why the dons and blues get $50 per membership more than we do).

It does mean expectation needs to be managed though, so people buy a "regular" membership knowing they will miss certain key games.

2) I wouldn't oppose a small boutique stadium for our interstate home games because it would make us a mint. Access only by reserved seat, better share of signage and pourage rights, suddenly games that make a few bucks at the G become cash cows.

Again, expectation would need to be managed, but reality is few people would cry about missing GWS/GC/etc. It would also change the dynamic of our membership sales, with a much reduced focus on 11H memberships over reserved seats and 3H (due to inability to access blockbusters AND boutique stadium games).

3) As I posted on the other thread, I'm opposed to this regardless. Reasons being:

- AFL would probably want us to sign over the lease to them in order to fund it. I know its not been mentioned, but I'm cynical and cannot see them giving us a money making machine for free

- Even if we retained the lease, the AFL would take a massive proportion of the gate to pay for their funding IMO. Not as much as Etihad, but much more than Geelong pay for Cat Park.

- This is a bulldoze job, as the ground would need to move east (even if the western stand hangs over Punt Road). Without checking the footprint, I doubt a Metricon style stand could fit in our leased property. This would mean getting MCC agreement to cede some of Yarra Park, and I cannot see them doing this would some demand to share revenues.

- All this just keeps reducing the benefit for us more and more, and the value we would get from it.

Again, this is just an academic exercise anyway - its not gunna happen

The Cheek of them to wait till RICHMOND MEMBERS and SUPPORTERS pay money to get the surface done and then titearse Vlad wants it for his own use.

He will have to take my dead body from the ground to do this.
try 60000 dead bodies smasha we will not allow this to happen
