the Emu just keeps getting better and better.

I no longer close my eyes everytime he has the ball.

Gun :thumbsu:

He's great to watch now.

When under pressure he seems to still get himself into awkward situations, but damn, he's learned to get out of them well now! 2 years ago he'd have got caught almost every time but now he's more slippery than a mullet.

Bower looks awkward when he has the ball, but he very, very rarely turns it over. He is a sublime player. If he bulks up next pre-season (I was quite disappoitned to see he hadn't last pre-season), he will hold down CHB at Carlton for a decade.

I have said from the very second we drafted him he would be a beauty, always maintained he had the physical abilities to be an amazing defender, and I think anybody who trash talks him doesn't watch him closely enough.

I honestly don't think there has been a bigger, or more consistent supporter of Paulie B on this board then me, and just like I said a couple of years ago, I still think he is a future All Australian without a doubt. I was laughed at for this a couple of years ago when half this board would trash talk him every week, but just you watch, he will be an out and out star

Love watching him play. I usually shit myself when he has the ball but....he always seems to get out a clean disposal! He kicks very high, but that's not a problem as long as he hits his targets. And he does.

His defensive side is developing nicely.

Ratts has got a decision on his hands now. With our defense showing it can operate effectively with Waite forward, the replacement CHB will need to come from one of Austin or Bower. At the moment Bower is playing 3rd tall. If he put on 5kg's he'd be a great CHB.

Austin is more of a "stopper" however, and i think would be more naturally suited to the CHB. Having Bower running off HB is a very useful thing, and should be maximised.

Anyone else get nervous whenever he has a kick? His kicking action is horrible and looks so awkward

Actually Bacon Bits, I get nervous everytime I see you start a thread, knowing that you are going to pot one of our younger players who don't deserve it.:thumbsd:

Bower is one of the most improved at the club and going just fine. Has just had his best month of footy for the club so lighten up.

maybe he could take kicking lessons from his look-alike

I don't have a problem with his disposal as it is quite good. His left foot kicking has improved out of site as he showed yesterday a number of times. Remember its not what his action looks like, its how effective it is, and it is very effective.

People say Robinson has poor disposal but again it is more his kicking action rather than his actual kicking ability.

Bower is coming along very nicely, and is probably a year off being able to play on the real power forwards (although he has shown his ability in shutting down players like Franklin!). Im very happy with his progress.

"it judd"? What does that mean?

If you're talking about that I'm such a big fan of Bower yet Waite is in my username, it's because although I always thought Bower would be awesome, Waite back then was still my favourite player. Funnily enough Gibbs and Bower are now my favourite players with Waite after them

I know its a bit of a crude measure of performance but i think everyone would be pretty surprised to see Bower as the 8th biggest scorer for the year according the supercoach data.

anyone have a list of the blokes hes played on this year? other than the bath he got from Bradshaw i cant recall him losing to an opponent.

Really think this guy can take it to the next level and become a gun defender of the comp.

Played on Buddy against the Hawks, Pav against Freo. Can't remember the rest.

I did a double take a few weeks ago when I realised that Bower is just 21 and playing good footy as a tall defender in his fourth season.

Ahead of schedule with just 32 games under his belt due to injury.

Fantastic effort to play well on Buddy last year in a belting after he missed ten rounds of the home and away season.

I do get a bit worried with this kid when his got the pill in his hand, i'd still have him in our first 22 though? some times he does look to panic a bit? against the bombers he had a couple of dingie kicks.
