Boxing Day Test!

I just got my tickets to the Boxing Day Test!

I'm VERY excited! Hopefully, there will be a big crowd, there should be, Australia vs. Sth Africa is what we have all been waiting for!

I have never been to a boxing day test before. Been to a one-dayer in Melbourne, but never a test! I'll be doubling up back here in Sydney the following week too!

Great stuff Briedis!! Let me assure you it's a fantastic day - the highlight of the cricket calendar if you ask me. I just hope for everyone's sake it doesn't rain like it seems to every other year!

Will probably just roll up and get my ticket on the day - the only annoying part about Boxing Day as opposed to the other days of the test is you can't get a seat behind the bowler's arm in the Southern Stand. But who cares, I'm looking forward to it.

i have been to atleast one day of the boxing day test (normally go everyday if possible) for as long as i can remember

but cant go this year because im going away for a week, leaving on boxing day
so i'll have to watch the game in the pub everyday

I hope it isn't a washout like the last time South Africa was here in the Boxing Day test match.

It's one of my life long ambitions - to go to the MCG on a Boxing Day and watch the opening days play.

On ya, Breidis. Me and a couple of mates have been the last 4 years running and should be there again this year. Are you staying for the full Test and how much are the tix this year?

On the first day of the Boxing day test, or any other day for that matter, do I have to book my tickets before the test, or can I just turn up on the day, get my ticket at the gate, walk in and find a seat?

If you get there early enough before the queues get too big the first morning, there are still plenty of General Admission tickets. Most of the time, you can sit where you want, some small reserved areas, mostly directly behind the wickets.

On the day's after, it's easy to get tickets.

The only time we've ever had trouble with seating is for the Ashes Test, a lot of Poms get reserved seats for the full game and you have to search a bit for a seat.

This could turn into a Big Footy meet and greet, if there is a few going.

I just got tickets for the first day, just to make sure we get in and whatever... I doubt we will go to any other days because we have to drive back to Sydney, but maybe the second day if it looks like something is happening. Trying not to plan it, always works out best if you just go with the flow on your holidays I reckon.

In my latest holiday coup, I have convinced my girlfirend that we should fly to Adelaide on the 15th, go to the test at Adelaide Oval on the Sunday, maybe the Monday as well....drive from Adelaide to Melbourne (via where-ever, Great Ocean Road is supposed to be good) go to the Boxing Day test, then drive home to Sydney (via whereever, would like to see how the country town I used to live in is going) and go to the Sydney Test. 3 tests!!

I'm going to be washing dishes or doing some other favours for a long time I think!

I'll more than likely attend at least one day of the Test match (stuff the pyjama crap). If a BigFooty meet-up is organised, I'd be interested in attending and meeting a few new people, especially the Roos supporters from otrher states!

Yeah, count me in! I will be definately going the first day, so it would best for me if we could arrange to meet then, perhaps go out for a couple after the day's play. I'm sitting section N5 of the Southern Stand...I think that's behind where the Punt Rd goals are...

I always get roped into the grilfriend's christmas family get-together in geelong or bendigo or ballarat or some bloody place... So I've made it to the boxing day test (one day of) the last 2 years. fantastic atmosphere. I backed up for the Sydney test last year too as we bolted back for new years

That's right Nic, the lines aren't as big after the first day, so it's easier to walk up and get tix.

I've got that week off, so I'm in again this year, booking tickets soon. Usually go for the first 3 days, first session of the 4th, then home. Hope to catch up to some of you at the game.

The way things are going at the present time regarding the weather during test matches, I have a feeling that it could very easily be a washout.
