No I believe he is worth more than Brad Symes.

As long as they play him in the right role, the club who gets him will be very happy with what he can contribute.

Heck may end up justifying his pick 13 selection.

My opinion is he is worth a pick in the early 20's or a player like Surjan or Pearce.

I think there will be some player movement this year, and I believe we will focus on picking up a player.

I think Surjan and our second pick. That is if he chooses port and you have to deal with us only. If he is ok with crows then I'm not sure if I even want him. I want passion for the pafc, cos that will bring out the best in him.

I remember him absolutely carving one game against the Crows early in his career. I remember specifically because he was my DT emergency and scored 105 for me when Shaun Burgoyne pulled out

In a post match interview he said "As a Port supporter it's great to get a win over the Crows".

He's a professional, so i'd assume he'd go anywhere if the deal was right, but he'd prefer Port to the Crows without a doubt.

I really, really, really don't want to give up Surjan. That trade would haunt our nightmares for the rest of Surjan's career. If we give up our PP, maybe we can involved a 3rd club to get a player to WC. Hmmm.

Ebert, 22 next year. Played 22 games averaging 13.6 possessions per game in a top 4 team playing a new role for him. Has also already played 76 games.

Add to that, WC don't really need more small defenders. Surjan would be a handy pickup but no way will we trade Ebert and a pick for Surjan. Not even Voss would go for that.

I also don't think Eagles will be after a pick. We will be targetting players to fill our biggest gaps which Pearce suits more than others.

Yes. Not even Port supporters rate him. Spent most of the year in the SANFL and couldn't crack a game in a truly struggling team. Even struggled against Claremont.

I think you'll find 95% of Port Adelaide supporters rate him and he's one of the most underrated players in the AFL. Furthermore, I was at the Foxtel Cup game and Surjan was clearly BOG for Port Adelaide.

Funny though I think Adelaide is in a much better position to dangle there first pick then Port are. Adelaide already have the talent and should play finals next year they don't need a top 15 pick they could wait until our first pick.

Adelaide won't give up a high pick for another player with park football skills. They have no connection to the Ebert name so they won't be desperate for him. They have had a lot of high picks fail to come on or walk out in the last few years and need to replace them with quality.

2nd round pick is about right for Ebert.

WC will ask for more I rekon. Not too sure what the ages of the older guys are but WC might see their window opening now and closing quickly and want guys who will improve the best 22. Salopek maybe...

There are a few issues for West Coast that may make some difference to the situation.

1. If Ebert says "Yes Port is where I want to go" - Port's Pre-Season Draft Pick Number 2 comes into play. Even if the Crows says they will use their first round choice Ebert just has to say No and he goes through to the PSD. Will GWS take him? - I doubt it - did GCS take Houli?

2. An Ebert - Surjan trade is a non-event Surjan has no trade value due to the fact he can't get game time for us.

3. If WCE don't trade Ebert but then don't play him if he wants to leave at a later stage WCE may get only a 3rd Round pick or have to delist him so it depends on where they see Ebert on their list and who they are looking at this year ie more midfielders. It maybe in WCE interests to trade him now for less than what some people expect.

A good example of this would be Schammer. The Crows would have traded for him a few years ago and he hardly got a game for Freo and has now retired at 27 - Ithink that's how old he is.

Prob sounds about right. Pearce would become a champ in wc midfield.

The only drawback is that Pearce was our only trump in tryin to get either omeara or gws pick 9 to nab grigg. Hopefully we get a pick in the 30's for motlop


If this did happen the off season for port would look like

Out - chad, marlon, brogan, dmotlop, Meyer, Pearce

In - ebert, Morris, pick 6, pick 22, pick 29, pick late 30's (motlop) or upgrade jonas if motlop walks.

Wow you must only watch West Coast games then because in case you didn't notice, we suck. We need all the top 10 draft picks we can get. From our point of view I just don't think it would be worth it as we'd be hoping that whoever we draft at pick 10 will offer us more than what Ebert and a later pick could offer.

Would rather keep Ebert. Really hope he doesn't leave. Honestly, I believe that if West Coast truly believe he is a required player, then they will offer him more midfield time because he deserves it. Hard to impact as a high endurance runner from a forward pocket :s

I do want him traded have for a while and i think he would do better at another team.

If he is to go i would put his value as a normal year second round pick. so approximately 17 onwards. Anything better than pick 20 i think would favor WCE anything worse would favor the other team. Will make it difficult given what the adelaide teams have to offer.

The simple fact is. Unless Ebert threatens to walk out on WC, he won't be going to PA for a second pick straight swap. Anyone that thinks that is dreaming.

Pearce had probably his best year at PA since his first (when he got no attention from taggers etc.). The team struggled but Pearce's run and carry and ability to get the ball over the zone is a very big need for Port Adelaide too.

Why didn't he play the last two games and who would he kick out of your current 22?

I don't see any reason why Port would consider trading Pearce for Ebert even with a swap of picks (incidently in a weak draft where 2nd round will be only slightly better than 3rd Round).
Fact is we (Port) would be downgrading and when you're at the bottom of the table the last thing you want to do is downgrade.
Also why would we want to trade our most important midfielders when it would be highly likely if Ebert wanted to make the move he would be available at the pre-season draft?
And finally why would we consider trading our best midfielder for a player that couldn't make your best 22 when it came down to the business end of the season?
The issue you have is similar but not the same as Port have with Surjan and the Crows have with Armstrong. Your team selection has shown what his worth is to other clubs and how you see his worth within your club. So any thought of Ebert still being worth a 1st Round pick should be thrown out the window.
By this I'm not saying he's not a good player or saying that he wasn't worth a 1st Round pick.
