No.

Pick 33 is good for a Player that is said to burn the ball and cannot play finals for you.

And if not, there is the psd to think about.

He wants to leave and come to port. The crows have a psd pick after us unless they upgrade with gc and that won't happen. So WC's hands are slightly tied.
Adelaide could offer Gunston to Hawthorn in a 3 way trade. Hawks give WC maybe Xavier Ellis?

I couldn't decide which so I think two smaller packs of each will suffice:

You're not kidding. I wonder how many of those players will still be on a list in three years' time.

That draft might be light on for superstars but there are some very good solid players in that list. Harry Taylor at 17 is pretty solid.

Ebert was taken pick 13 in a weak draft. It would be interesting to see how many players from that draft people rate ahead of him, given this year's draft is also being touted as weak.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_afl_draft

The irony of that draft is that we had the same 2 picks we have now (28 and 33) and we wasted them on two duds that we just delisted.

im not a fan of clubs screwing others over (PSD) so i hope that Port and WCE work out an amicable trade

Depends on the individual circumstances Mark Williams call on Nick Stevens going to Collingwood all those years ago was a great move that drew a line in the sand on Vic clubs screwing over interstate clubs on these trades. Also may have saved us the pain of a Collingwood premiership if they had gotten any stronger.
If WCE said to us we want pick 6 and that's non-negotiable what could we do? The PSD is a fall back position and it has gotten some teams some good players in the past and is there if we need to use it.

west coast will want pick 6 and im pretty sure thats not going to be happening. I really think a 3 way deal will happen tbh as we are chasing players to fill a couple of holes (who can come in now) rather than having to wait 3-6 years of development time before we have a quality hardened player.

It becomes even more interesting when you look at how many players from that draft who were available at pick 28 would be valued equal to or higher than Ebert.

Look on the bright side to get 28 we traded out Symes so nothing lost there. Marlon Motlop is an example of how the SANFL draft is bad for young AFL players and M Hoff injured all the time. 2007 draft not our finest hour. Lets hope Lobbe turns out to be a champion.

Is it pick 28 or pick 29? Haven't Brisbane activated their compensation pick from last year? The below link seems to indicate that Brisbane get in before Port.

Either way, it sounds about right with Port probably just coming out on top.

West Coast had their priority pick at 26 in the last draft, and were followed by North's compensation pick at 27. I'd assume it would be the same this year.

Whilst the PSD is leverage, it is not as much leverage as you think. If we get pick 33, I couldn't give a stuff if he walks. I would tell GC to take him because they can match any price on his head.

Cyril Rioli
Trent Cotchin
Ben McEvoy

God help the other three. :D
As soon as an essendon fan reads that there is going to be about 50 threads on Rioli wanting to go to Essendon

Now you've done it, Way to ruin the Trades/Draft thread (Im being scarcastic, im well aware of the "Standard" that the board already is in)

It is not a question directly about Brad Ebert but it could affect the trade to port. Would Melbourne or Richmond or Fremantle trade their first pick (12) (14) (16) for pick 23 and pick 28? ie 2 later picks for an earlier pick?

Potential 3 way trade if Griffen wants to head to Port. Not trying to say it's fair, just throwing it out there for some feedback on winners/losers and for general criticism.

Port gain: Ebert, Griffen, 45, 63
Port lose: 28, 33, 51

Eagles gain: 33, 38
Eagles lose: Ebert, 45, 63

Dockers gain: 28, 51
Dockers lose: 38, Griffen

I don't think eagles would accept just those picks. Nor would port want the late ones. Not sure if there is still interest in griffin either.

But if they would, then I guess it's not too bad

So port would use pick 6 on a gun midfielder, then essentially use pick 28 on ebert and 33 on griffin. That would leave pick 45 for best available player.

Hopefully would squeeze another pick in there under 40 for maybe kornes to crows or from gws for the old buggers.

I doubt it from a Tigers perspective... unless they traded their way into an earlier pick from somewhere else.

west coast will probably only be using the 3 picks, which means pick 33 amounts to a third to second round upgrade in a weak draft, which is a massive rip-off for ebert

i personally hope that if thats the best offer we get we go back to ebo with a 1 year deal, and tell him we will trade him home next year
