Who's missus did Brad Hodge pot?

Seriously he has to have potted one of the selectors missus' along the way?!?!

How can he not get a game in front of some of these current muppets?

If they are playing the youth card then why has Hussey lasted so long? Made some runs today, but has been average for a while now.

Hussey has been excellent in one day cricket. It's test cricket where he is shit

Hodge is, from all reports, a twat, and his whinging and carrying on have seen his papers marked. That and never making much of his ODI oppertunities.

Hussey only makes runs when we are going shit, so we can have an honourable loss instead of a pumping.

Twat or no twat the bloke can bat and why wouldn't you whinge when muppets who aren't performing continually get a game in front of you?

Has anyone actually read a credible news article that even hints at Hodge being a prick? Or is this just a theory on BF that everyone's repeated so many times it's now accepted as fact?

I can be your credible source..

Brad Hodge is one of those guys that well, knows he is good and isn't afraid to let any Tom, Dick or Harry know. Of course when he wasn't selected for international duties he whinges, when he does and doesn't make the most of his opportunities, he whinges.

I have met him several times and every time you can see the arrogance seeping through that meat head of his.

Now do not get me wrong, he is a sensational player but the fact is that his ego is simply to big for Cricket Australia to worry about in and around the national team.

Yet you look at someone like Steve Smith, Brett Lee, Shane Watson, Michael Clarke, etc, the list could go on and on...
 
By all reports Don Bradman wasn't the best bloke. But if they make the runs, who gives a stuff? They're professional sportsmen FFS. They're out there to win. Not hold hands and sing kumbaya. If Hodge is a bit of a prick but could average 45-50, while North's a top bloke averaging 25, and North gets a game ahead of Hodge, something is SERIOUSLY wrong with the selection process

Gilly and Warney didn't get along. Didn't seem to trouble those two dominating together.

No arguments from me but for the answer to your question you need to look at who is holding the keys.

Warney & Gilly agreed, different blokes - different morals, but were able to play together because they wre both under the control of strong leaders, firstly Taylor and secondly Waugh who took no shit.

Under our incumbent leader, it's a very different scenario, you are either in our out. There would appear to be no room for different cats or people who do not toe the party line.

There in lies your answer.

FWIW The vice captain will be no better when inevitably he gets the gig.

We need to find the next Australian Captain now and play him - whoever that may be.

Arrogance didn't seeem to trouble the West Indies.

Didn't seem to trouble Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath.

We're just too soft to make the decisions we need to make. The people in charge don't want to hurt anybodys feelings.

Um, what? Lee and Watson were/are flamboyant on the field, but every time they're interviewed, every time you hear somebody talk about what they're like in person, they come across as genuinely humble, nice people.

Steve Smith has a funny face. That's about all you could say for him.

Michael Clarke has had relationship issues, is a bad T20 batsman, and has some wanky tattoos. There's nothing to suggest he's a ******** on a personal level.

I don't suppose it's any coincidence the four people you just mentioned play for NSW, is there?

Wasnt it because of Bradman that players like Bill O'Reilly weren't always picked, despite O'Reilly being comfortably the best bowler of his era and one of the best of all time. It's happened throughout history of Australian cricket.

Imagine being a senior member (someone who has played for a while, despite not necessarily being the oldest member of the team) and having a mature aged player walk into the team and just shread arrogance off of himself and onto others.

NO, then this is why Hodge has not really had a good look in.

The players you mentioned are all gods (Smith - spinning god to be apparently), Watson (our answer to Keith Miller of today), Lee (fastest thing since Lille and Thompson, and while on Lee, I think he would be a terrific guy, someone who is actually really down to earth) and finally Michael Clarke (the lovechild of Australian cricket since he entered the NSW team at a young age).

Any other players you care to throw out as an argument.

You use the W.I as an example, if half the side is full of idiots and bog headed fools, then the players who are not full of themselves are the ones who need to deal with the problem, not the other way around..
 
I just read that Brad Hodge has now retired from all cricket bar T20, and he is still bewildered as to why he didn't play more tests etc...

I remember seeing a young Brad Hodge off his head more than a number of times and I suspect this may have had a lot to do with not being picked more often than Australia.

That, and his constant harping on about "it must be time for Brad Hodge be to be picked for Australia" put him well behind other blokes who got a chance...

Has anybody read Matty Haydens book... seems he was a fan of hodge

One of the many joys of that world cup (2007), apart from the cricket, was taking pleasure in the company of teammates like Brad Hodge. In my books, Hodgey is pure gold. He was always fun to be around and definitely my first invitee to any dinner table. To finish his test career with 503 runs at 55.89 from six matches makes him the hard luck story of the century, I reckon future generations will look back and be struck by the oddness of those numbers. Did he get injured? Did he do something bad? Did he get too old? The answer is none of the above. He was just plain unlucky.

The last line pretty much sums it all up

These are all time greats. They can do as they please. Brad Hodge is an above average first class player - different rules apply.

Hmm, so a bloke who averages only around 3-4 less than Hodge at Shield level, as well as keeping, is below average. Don't recall him coming out and sooking terribly much either, which seems to be the norm for Hodge.

Brad Hodge Test Average 56, FC average 49

Brad Haddin, Test Average 35 FC average 39

Haddin only sooks at the crowd, he's been carried for much of his test career with his sub par keeping and occasional tonk that comes off.
