May I ask why?
Ratts is not connected to any of the players and very few of the Admin that were there when he was sacked.
I believe that he would have the experience to know what needs to be done, plus his life experience would be something that the players could lean on with what they may go through.
Sorry, I missed this.
HOF is a senior appointment, one that your coaching, LM & fitness teams should report to.
I'm not sure a twice fired coach, with a reputation for becoming too close to some of the players is the person to oversee the department.
Why do you see him as a good fit?
Not to say I'm right, of course, but I see him as a better fit as an assistant coach.

I believe that Ratts has the experience across most if not all of the areas that HoF would need to be. Where he may need some education would be in LM and Fitness.
However as Head he has experts in those areas he could rely upon. Really all he has to do is ensure that the football departments are cohesive and working toward a central goal.
Given Ratt's life experiences (premiership player, coach, assistant coach, watching opposition players and even attending his son's games plus dealing with loss within family) would make him the type of HoF who could handle most situations arising in a Football dept.

That's fair & obviously, to each their own but IMO he has exposure limited to coaching where he was ultimately found to not be of the standard required twice.
Coaches tend to have greater pull in decision-making so someone with an understanding of LM would be ideal as this would assist with balancing the immediate needs that tend to influence a coaches decision-making making against the long-term strategic approach required in list management.
If he'd proven himself to be a great manager, I could understand the appointment but he has queries against him in that regard.

That said, I also question the value of Bartel, when plenty of others are excited by the potential appointment so perhaps I'm looking for a candidate that doesn't exist as cronyism is rife in AFL circles.

In all fairness CrippaTheGoat posted in the Bluemour thread and it was moved over to this thread hence the double up.
