Biglands is not a natural KPP IMO - we have far better options on our list. His rucking has gone down hill this year, because we have tried to turn him into something he is not. This has been a stupid move for the club at a time where we need to be grooming a ready-made #1 ruckman to take over from Clarke.

He as originally a KPP before we turned him into a ruckman.

He still is a reasonable mark and in field play when his confidence is up. Remember, he was dominant in 2002.

He has all the capabilities to lead our ruck division.

As long as we're happy with a ruckman who has averaged 7.2 disposals and 2.2 marks per game over his 80 game career.

Ottens averages 11.4 disposals per game and 5.6 marks per game over 124 games. Obviously much better than Bigland's stats, and plays a combination of key forward as well as rucking.

Hitouts are pretty similar - Biglands 14+ compared with Ottens 15+ per game.

One thing I must say though is that Ottens stats certainly support the notion that he is an under-achiever for a man of his talent.

He has to be some sort of risk, and I certainly wouldn't sell the farm to get him!!

Biglands is off the ground WAY more than what Ottens is.
Would love to see the stats/TOG comparison. Might surprise.

Crows fans can talk up (or down) the possibility of chasing Ottens.
But at the end of the day it is extremely unlikely to occur for the obvious reason...Adelaide won't pay what the tigers will ask for.
Added to that, having the headaches of trying to keep Ottens wage inside the salary cap.

Richmond may decide that its in everyones best interest to do a trade deal?
As long as its a win/win.

However if I was a new coach ( Wallace) I think I would try an turn his game around, so sadly I think he will stay at Richmond.

Wallace would be more likely to keep him.

I think it is fair to say that where Ottens ends up will have a lot to do with who ends up both the Tigers & Crows coaches. Wallace could well see him as a player who he thinks he can get the best out of - but at which club?

I just think it comes down to this:

do we think he will realise his potential?
yes/no
If no, don't bother.
if yes, we shouldn't be afraid to pay. Because he will not be given away.
