We look soooooooo much better with him in the side. He is no doubt one of our most important players if we are going to win the grand final. I think its no co-incidence that we absolutely dominated the first half when he play most of his game time. His tapwork is first class, will give 2nd, 3rd and 4th efforts and tackle around the ball basically giving us a extra midfielder and can play key forward. He will be better for the run. I can't wait to unleash the Otto-man in the finals.

Here Here. Full marks to the coaches and medicos, they managed him expertly. The other teams will now be apprehensive at the cohesion that he has bought us.

Seeing the big fella out there made me kinda of happy in my pants.
Midfielders getting silver service and great follow up work. Hope he pulls up well and gains momentum for the finals from here

Would love to have Mummy in as well.
Impressed with otto considering limited games this year.
How good to have kelly back great skills.

I agree. Otto and Mummy will be a great combo. Just waiting on Chappy and Johno to complete the puzzle.

Agree. I was also Happy in my pants.

Once he can rest permanently up forward as opposed to the bench, it will free Hawkins to play more as a CHF where he seems to play his best.

Also great having Kelly back, plugging up that hole in the defence. No coincidence we have had to drop Corey, Bartel & to a lesser extent Ablett back there since Kelly has been missing for the last 8 weeks..

The crowd exploded with his first few touches. A great way to welcome him back to the side. No better game to test whether he is 100% than in the wet and in the ruck against a giant. Which he did extremely well in both aspects considering he has missed 20 afl rounds.

Judging by some posts in this thread, the crowd wasn't the only thing that exploded.

:p:D

I honestly beleive that ottens is the best ruckman in the AFL.

He's a good tap ruckman, does well around the ground and can be a dangerous forwards.I cant think of another ruckman that can do so well in all 3 areas.

I don't know a great deal about other clubs and their players but they all seem to have their versatile ruckmen now that can do the things you mention. Not sure how well many of them go because as i said i don't know much about other teams players. Only time i see other teams play is usually when they play geelong and i don't pay to much attention to them.

It was great to see the big fella back in the team and he just slotted straight in and had an impact on the game. We are a 2-3 goal better side with him in IMO.

Excited for September now.

A successful return for Ottens, and Kelly too, combined with the recent form of Mooney and Tomahawk has made me a hell of a lot more confident heading into the finals, that is for sure. Now for Chapman, then Johnson.

Yep Otto will be big next week.. Out all season almost for only a 3 week injury.. At least he is playing at the right end of the season and makes it through all the way for us.

Pleasantly surprised at how well ol' Botto played. Even more so James Kelly. We looked MUCH better.

Chapman and Johnson in for Gamble and (probably Stokes unfortunately) and we're looking a good shot.

I'd love to have the Pies injury list. One guy, and it's someone I've never even heard of.

The great thing about Ottens is that he didn't even look like he's missed most of the year and to me doesn't seem to be underdone.

Having Kelly back was just as awesome and even Harley ( apart from that 1 blunder ) made our backline look so much better.

Chappy next week, SJ 2 weeks after that in the Prelim ;) i like what i'm seeing

Me too... every time he fell on his knees tackling somebody or in the ruck, I'd be thinking "please get up Otto, please get up Otto..." - and he always did!

For him to physically throw himself around like that in those bad conditions means he has a lot of confidence in his knee. He certainly wasn't playing like a guy coming back from a 20 week injury.

This time yesterday I was optimistic at best about our finals chances, after seeing Otto and Kelly and knowing we should get Chappy back next week I am actually confident :thumbsu:

It was great to see him get a bit of game time, and by what I have read he picked up a lot of contested possessions, which just goes to show the value of his second efforts. No surprise that he only get 8 hit outs up against Sandilands, but I am sure those numbers will increase greatly in the next few weeks. The best news is that he seems to have pulled up well!
