We were a mid range team copping thumpings from the big boys when Brad took over 5 years ago. We would cause the odd upset, lose the odd unlosable game BUT teams generally knew they had 'played' North. Life was dull and boring.
We are now STILL a mid range team who in the past 18 months have developed a shocking habit of losing to just about anyone in the most weakest and putrid ways imaginable. Life is now frustrating and mediocre.

Players were at fault tonight, but I don't know what it is about Brad, he seems more like an assistant than a coach. He doesn't seem like he knows what is going on in the box, doesn't make that many moves when the ship is sinking. We had some big momentum swings against us and we just were unable to get out hands on the ball or hit targets. When the shit is hitting the fan and you are having zero impact in the box then I think the coach should come down to the ground and get the assistant in the box to monitor from the box and come down and chat to the guys who are coming on and off the ground because there were blokes second to the ball and putting in half arsed efforts all night and it started in the first quarter and went through to the last quarter.

If he can't influence contests more often during quarters then I am not sure how you can be a matchday coach.

I love the club, but I had to sit through that finals loss to WC.

"I'd have thought changes would be on the perimeter... Not wholesale."

Just pulling this bit out so everyone can process it now.

Because we have a "solid base" apparently.

The sad thing is, wholesale changes wouldn't be due to sending a message to the playing group or injuries now, we desperately need 120 minute per game contributers ASAP.

Any one else sick of the ridiculous softball questions that get lobbed at Scott?
"Oh great one, your team suffered a minor hiccup today..."

Should have been more like:

1. How long are you prepared to endure the mediocrity of several players - Black, Bastinac, Adams?
2. Are you creating a Richmondesque culture of failure by failing to punish mediocrity?
3. Do you believe a heavy loss to Hawthorn will see you role in question?

Etc etc.

Instead you just get these deferential, ever-so-gentle questions that allow Brad to live in accountbility free fairyland.

Mate there needs to be a bigger issue at play here.

It again is on all of them.

For me its now on this guy

This is a very good point. If we were Collingwood, for example, the questions would be very direct. I think it's a case that the media think not enough people care about us to make a story out of it. Basically we're seen as irrelevant, I'm afraid.

Members of the media don't pay close enough attention to us to know what hard questions to ask, instead it's always the same old 'you must be frustrated at the inconsistency of your side' bullshit.

On the morning of his second game as coach in 2010 an article appeared in which Brad Scott said he wouldn't berate his players. We lost that night to St.Kilda by 104 and Malcolm Blight blasted him, basically telling him to toughen up or fail. Four and a half years on and he's failing. I respect his loyalty to his players but it's misplaced. He should be working in the best interests of the club who employs him. Ever heard a player say they "like" Ross Lyon? Or Al Clarkson? Or Pagan? Even he probably never "liked" Leigh Matthews. But those coaches were respected because they got the best from their players. Brad doesn't. Anthony Morabito hasn't played in nearly 4 years due to 3 knee recos. He is going alright in the WAFL and wants a comeback game. Lyon tells him to pull his head in as there isn't a spot for him and wait until he earns one. Can't imagine Brad being that ruthless.

I usually like and respect what Brad says, and changes don't fuss me. But the line that we dominated the first quarter and played well in the second half, and only lost it by "unacceptable" lapses in the second, is just delusional. For one thing, the Lions kept being able to spread and mark, but their kicking efficiency, especially at goal, just dropped off. And for another, we were playing the 17th side coming off a trip to Perth and an emotional week. It's misreading the game to pretend a few different choices in q2 could have fixed everything.

There is no doubting you Marstermind. I'd forgotten Blight's call. Great memory. Yep Blight was right.

I've said it before, but he coaches the opposite to how he played.

He's a pretender.
Couldn't agree more.
When I heard Cameron Ling say he was happy with that first quarter he lost me. We should have had them on toast but poor kicking again, laziness means we don't and they ran over the top of us. It would have been an injustice for us to pull that one out of our bums. I hope there are no floggings today so he cops the heat that Damien Hardwick has copped for a few weeks cos BS deserves it and more

Can't believe he was "happy" with our Second half. Happy with us conceding shit loads of uncontested marks to a team that have never been strong in their outside play? Happy that our pressure was non-existent? Happy that our forward 50 entrie were pathetic?

Pull your ****ing head in Scott and stop accepting mediocrity. We are embarrassing and you refuse to do anything about because you "back the playing group" and because you "believe in our structures"

Brad Scott lost me last night. His inability to get the absolute best out of a really talented bunch of players (on the most part) cannot be accepted any longer. We are fortunate with the draw this year, which will make us look like a far better side than we really are. We were a better side last year, sadly. And I do not think we would be any lower on the ladder if even Danny Frawley was our coach! If a Paul Roos or Ross Lyon was our coach, we'd be top 2.

Yeah, I think Scott needs to understand it's a pretty simple game. The tactics may change on how you do it, but generally the team that takes their chances, and actually kick goals win more games than they lose.

Which is odd because he was a ruthless footballer. I sometimes wonder if Brad, in his mind, is in competition with his brother. It's not uncommon amongst twins. Notice how our performances against Geelong have shot up? And they're hardly a shit outfit. Yet we didn't beat average plodders like Essendon and Brisbane (up there)? I'm not trying to get all psychological, and I'm still not convinced he's the issue, but I've had friends who are twins and have seen it before.
