In my opinion the next coach is already at the club.......Brad Scott. He has had recent success (as a player) and knows the sacrificies to get there. He wasn't a great player but that doesn't matter. Is not easily intimidated and that he is no-nonsense.

I am lead to believe we are grooming him for the job and he will be the successor to Mick Malthouse. He is a better option than someone that knows more about the list and specifically Guy McKenna.

I heard Peter Daicos is going to be our next coach.

Yes.....Daics would make a good coach.Has plenty of footy smarts and loves the club. But hasn't had any coaching experience.Would be interesting.Micky maguane would be an interesting coach at pie land.but i don't think Eddie sees eye to eye with mick maguane. If he was appointed i believe he would get the best out of all the players at the club.Micky magg would coach the pies to a premiership. He is primed, and a great strategist.Micky is ready if the pies want him,he has had expreience in coaching, was a great player and has played in a premiership and is a collingwood man.Faaaaaaaaaaaaaark let's get him ,makes sense doen't it.Micky maguane for senoir coach in 2008 and Peter daicos as assistant coach. This would work no worries.Come on Eddie let's get some collingwood greats in their to help us to our next premiership, malthouse has had his chance..............GO PIES

I'd really like to see how Brad goes in his role before throwing him into a coaching job. I am not saying he is bad or won't be good it's just having him prove himself in a coaching role would be good first.

Brad is prefectly suited to a coaching role and was a superb choice from those at the club.

He really fits the mould of a senior coach in a lot of ways. Like a lot of succesful modern day coaches, he was never the most talented player but made up for it by how much he worked.

And before you draw comparisons to Tony Shaw from that description, Brad is actually very intelligent and articulate, and knows the game inside out.

As I said, he certainly fits the mould. Give him a few years in the assistant coaching chair and then you never know.

Very well said. Brad is one tough guy. He knows right from wrong and can be really nice to you as well. Just don't piss him off with your partying FJ.:thumbsu:

I agree.

Which is basically what I was getting at with my post, I'd like to see him learn the list more and show how good he can fit in around them, only problem with Shaw was he wasn't groomed to be a coach, he jumped right in head first without learning the ropes around a coach.

Oh yeah of course. I didn't mention he should take over as of tomorrow. He has only been out of the game for a VERY short time but he needs to learn the ropes and it could take him 5 years for all we know.

Our next coach should be Mick Mcguane, alot of people seem to have high praises of him
Bookies and barmen strong among them.

McGuane would be a risk. Right now I’d swap him for Malthouse because the unknown is better than the know mediocrity but whether he is the best option I don’t know. He seems to me to be a smart football thinker but he made a lot of dumb life decisions and in spite of being an excellent footballer he finished his career short of what it should have been. Maybe we need to take some risks now. We certainly have the financial capacity and the sponsor credits to sustain a bad decision. I definitely think staying the conservative course is not the way to go. The wealthy can make high risk / high return decisions so long as they know when to cut their losses. It’s all academic. I don’t think he’d get near the club while Eddie is around. We have become a very conservative organisation. Perhaps an over reaction to the turrets syndrome of the past.
