Like nearly everyone who grew up in the 80s Border was, and is, my favourite cricket hero. Like a second father! If Lillee was the epitome of what it meant to be Australian in the 70s, AB took over that mantle in the 80s.

He took us over at our lowest ebb, successfully faced some of the best quicks of all time and built the foundations for our greatest era. How many times did he grit his way to a 70 with blokes failing all around him.....An absolute icon of Australian cricket.
