We've been hearing it most of today that he doesnt wanna be at the Lions anymore and wants a return to Victoria but as per usual we are being linked with a player wanting to change clubs. I doubt we will really have a shot at him considering he wants to go home supposedly, but what do ppl think? Worth a shot or not?

I wouldnt mind at all getting him. I was one of the many who didnt want Fev crowding our forward line or giving away too much for him. But i reckon Bradshaw for free is something that we should look at.

nope

I think our immediate future rests with Jesse White. Bradshaw is 31. too old for us.

Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

Sign him up Melbourne are all about getting rid of old blokes and going all youth. He would be a reasonable replacement for Magic and guys like White develop alongside seasoned performers who can bring the young ones into the game. That said as we are rebuilding as such a premiership contender would be the best fit. Bulldogs would have been perfect but they filled that hole. Can't help but think Carlton will nab him even though they didn't nab him.

Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

Very interesting to see where the Lions finnish in 2010. The Voss romance will be over for the playing group. What a woeful way he went about that trade week business pawning blokes left and right, especially the players in question.
He must have been a right pr!ck during little lunch when it came to swaping footy cards.

Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

I think that Bradshaw leaving is great for us in a different sense as it means that one more club is taken out of the PSD if a club like Richmond or the kangaroos were to take him. So if we were to enter the PSD and we were looking to pick up a player like Jesse Smith or Rhan Hooper for example then there is a greater chance that they will fall to our PSD pick.

Bradshaw quits Lions | The Australian

BRISBANE full-forward Daniel Bradshaw appears set to join Sydney after discussions yesterday with the Swans, including coach-in-waiting John Longmire.
Just how Sydney lands the key forward remains the burning question, but the Swans are likely to convince him to remain out of contract and be available to them with the fifth selection in the pre-season draft.

Hello Braddles.

Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

Please be true, would love him to team up with White and let Goodes go back to the midfield.

Obviously he could break down before the season begins, but we have the cash and it's worth the risk.

Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

Hope Braddles goes you to guys. Will fill the void Hall left. Have fun with him (if he signs with you) - I would.

I was thinking the same thing. His trade actions must have had a negative impact on some of the players group. I guess he probably only has 2-3 years to get another premiership before most of his best players are gone.

Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

Yeah get Braddie in here, I wouldn't mind him. He's 30, sure, but he's had two seasons now relatively injury free, so I think he's over his injury concerns. He has probably 2 years left in him, so he'd come in and draw the main defender away from White and LJ while they develop. I don't have a problem with it.

Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

i'm not fussed whether he comes over to the club or not

but i found this passage from the article interesting

It is understood Sydney is prepared to give Bradshaw a three-year contract as he is a ready-made replacement for Barry Hall, who controversially exited the Swans mid-season and will continue his career next year with the Western Bulldogs.

3 year contract? there seems to be no grounds to assume that is true, but it seems so Sydney-esque that you tend to believe it

3 years imo is to much for a guy aged 30, but the club's recent history suggests we will offer about anything to get our man

Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

I'm sorry, when did we suddenly become a flag contender? You only go for 30 year olds when you can win it in the next two years. We won't.

Maybe you don't trade for them. But if they fall into your lap for no draft or player cost, don't take up a list spot of someone you want to keep, and play in a position where you seriously lack depth and experience, surely you'd at least give it a long hard think?

If we get him and worst comes to worst, and the forward line starts getting crowded with a quickly developing White, a promising Johnston and a firing Bradshaw, then hell, we might just have to move Goodsey back to the midfield.:)

And while Bradshaw isn't going to turn us into a premiership contender overnight, he would surely enhance our prospects of playing finals in 2010 - and hopefully in the process fasttrack the experience of Hannebery, Vez et al.

Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

We should take Bradshaw if we are not beaten to it. Hopefully clubs are sensible and allow players to go where they choose to a large degree (we would almost definitely front load his contract).

A winning culture is vitally important for the young guys moving through. Bradshaw will play an important role in aiding that.

Question is, would we move Playfair on? Or keep him as further KPF depth?

That is true and normally I would agree with you on that point. But with the retirement of O'Loughlin who take the Full Forward position in the Senior Team??

Lewis Johnstone or Henry Playfair? I say right here and now that BOTH next season WON'T play full 22 game seasons. Johnstone because he won't be given a debut in Round One like many here seem to think (come on people he has played less than 3 games at the reserves since being drafted and has been out long term with a foot injury) and Playfair is unlikely to get though a season uninjured (heck he might not even be on our list in a month's time).

So I can see the sense in going and getting Bradshaw, so we can have a Full Forward while we develop our next one and have depth in the position at the same time. I doubt we are getting him in with a Premiership in mind, unless there is a Coaching Role in it for him.

I saw this mentioned elsewhere too. Maybe he is indeed getting a three year contract. But perhaps the third year of that contract is an assistance coach role?

That'd be a good idea anyway.
