The line being put forth by the AFL lawyer seems mightily weak to me.

Absolutely. Maynard was drafted 2014 (?). And played footy since juniors. Probably attempted to smother/spoil thousands of kicks and never knocked a bloke out. It happens once as a freak accident and he’s meant to have considered a duty of care before defending as per his job in the team.
 
The AFL has actually lost its f***ing mind. Plot...completely lost.

Only part of the game which might not harm another player is the coin toss.
