With members of clubs getting frustrated by the AFL, what clubs would make the move to start a break-away league where the club owns the league instead of the league owning the clubs.

Which clubs would be invited? How many clubs in the League will the first season be?

Will the break-away clubs have the right to their name, logo and jumpers? If not how would they re-brand themselves?

How will the AFL respond? Will they invite clubs from VFL, SANFL, WAFL etc to replace the missing clubs? Even inviting back Fitzroy?

Will the break-away league need to establish a new sport as Rugby Union and League as AFL are the keepers of the code (or what it is called).

Could it become two big rivaling Leagues of Australian Football? Will it be good for the game?

Which League would Tasmania join?

I’m clueless of what can legally be done, but I guess GWS and Gold Coast probably won’t be able to leave the AFL.

Greg Norman, is that you?

The MCG and docklands are both in AFL hands. What's the breakaway league going to do? Fix up Windy hill and princess park?

Membership base? Who wants to pay to follow a second rate league?

Players will have to be paid just as well or they'll leave and follow the cash.

The second rate league going to fork out 10 million plus a year to each club?

Team licenses, logos, monikers, etc, are all owned by the AFL.
If Richmond want to go into a breakaway league I think the AFL should allow it. Just don't let any other club go and see what happens

It would need someone with a s**t load of money, like Kerry Packer when he started World Series Cricket, or Rupert Murdoch when he started the NRL Super League. They paid the players more than they had been receiving previously.

The AFL owns Docklands, but they don't own the MCG. I could be wrong but there's probably nothing stopping the MCG from doing a deal with a new sporting body who wants to play there.

Needs the Saudi's to come in.

For the 500 million they offered Messi they could buy the 12 biggest clubs (Carlton, Collingwood, Richmond, West Coast, Geelong, Hawthorn, Sydney
, Adelaide, Brisbane, Port, Freo and Melbourne) and relocate the whole thing.

Ahhh the sweet irony for North Melbourne fans when they get to remain based in Melbourne playing derbies against the Saints, Bombers and Bulldogs, while Collingwood get relocated to Riyadh and Carlton have to play they matches from Mecca.

It would suck in many ways, but at least they would invest the money in proper goal line technology. Not sure how willing they would be to invest in the women's league though

You forgot the GF deal which would be null and void if MCG hosts a rival league. That deal covers the redevelopment of the Southern Stand.

Would never happen.

Only have to look at the results of the disastrous Super League War for League and the failed attempt at Union a few years later.

Players are well paid the clubs are funded up the kazoo.

Fans may get the shits but really it could be a lot worse. Look at what the A-League has for leadership.

If the MCC would be getting more money from a rival league, then maybe they wouldn't care about nulling and voiding their GF deal with the AFL.

So it is what it is.

And we are at the mercy of the AFL.

Clubs don’t have the courage anymore to contest the AFL and umpires.

So why should we? All the gloom and despair that’s on BigFooty at the moment, just results in nothing.

Better to chin up and think about one’s own inner serenity.

Always look on the bright side of life (whistling while walking away in the sunset)

Human error happens. ******* suck it up.

Wouldn’t suit your drip fed sponsored AFL club no doubt.

You lot really have as many brain cells as teeth. It’s uncanny.

No one would benefit from this idea, which is why most replies are against it. Your mob wouldn’t have access to the same ground 18 times a year, so there’s that.

Got anything else?

Just stop watching on TV, and stop attending games

It's literally the only way to express your disapproval.
