Yeah at least it happened late at night and not during the day when there would have been more cars and other vehicles travelling on it.

It looks like there will still be mass casualties though but not as many as there could have been.

On the flip side, the darkness makes it harder for them to find the cars.

Probably more horrifying too, to plunge into total darkness. Not sure how deep the water goes there

That is so cooked

Captain of the ship drunk?

Reminiscent of the Tasman Bridge collapsing over the Derwent -
Early reports is that the ship had two local harbor pilots onboard who were in charge of guiding it out, but, ship lost all power momentarily under the bridge and dead-drifted into the support pillar, they got power back just before the hit and tried to full reverse (the huge ploom of smoke just before they hit is them hitting full reverse) but it was too late.

It’s a little concerning how the bridge just crumbled after the collision, the ship hit only one pilon yet it looks like the entire length of the bridge collapsed.

Think I read 8 construction workers fell, 6 currently unaccounted for?

They are extremely lucky if those are the only casualties. I was expecting dozens.

Four minutes between the mayday call and the bridge being hit. Not enough time to clear traffic and workers.
