I see this kid is from VIC and just wondering whether it would be worth a VIC team picking him up on the cheap.Has he failed to come on in the two years with you guys in the West? A few match reports and blogs I read seemed to talk quite positively about him...Just looking for some thoughts / feedback on his progress...Thanks in advance!Cheers

Went forward then went backwards in terms of development. Our aim was to turn him into a 200cm FF. Not play him as a ruckman. Experiment failed.

If you want an undersized (not in height, but bulk) ruckman, wouldn't be a bad late rookie pick selection.

Has been passed in the pecking order by Clarke. Not a huge leap and has had injury concerns. Will be very lucky to retain his position on the list.

We will see what happens but he might nominate for the Draft after he is cut. Hope that he has a good future but he has not shown enough at Freo.

Appreciate the insights...Is he strong / big across the shoulders? In other words does he have the frame to continue to add bulk?We also have a 200cm ruckman in Dean Putt who is still very skinny and therefore a FF option... Just wish these boys could add mass quicker hey...Thanks again!

Picture a guy who is very tall. Stumpy small legs, the worlds longest torso and a poor jump. All in all a big lump without blinding talent or the ability to ruck well. Playing FF not a great option either. All in all a bust.:thumbsd:

I don't think he had much chance to develop so its only a bust because he was in his second year on the rookie list. still could develop. poor bloke never really got a good run of games. i reckon he may be rookied by someone else this year. I think i jinx my poor buddy though! must suck being on an afl list and never playing a game.

I remember reading early in the season he was playing as a wingman in Perths Reserves side! I would think his chances of being picked up again would be slim but you never know. I thought at the time of him being rookied he was worth a punt but it just hasnt come off

Personally, I would have liked to see us upgrade him to the main list after Browne "retired" mid season, purely and solely so we could have traded him to Port Adelaide - as a true follow-up to the "value" of the Josh Carr walk-out of 2008. I reckon Port might even have given us a 60-70 pick for Brent!!

Anyway, to answer the OP, if Brent keeps at it, he just might develop enough to be a backup AFL ruck on some lists, especially given the lack of multiple great ruck prospects in the 2009/2010 draft classes - and the concentration of 2007/2008 ruck picks in just a few clubs.

While I personally am very sceptical he will make it as much more than a passable WAFL ruckman, the state of some ruck lists at the moment (Port, Hawks, Melb, etc) means if the #1 ruck goes down with injury, a back-up like Brent might get a sudden chance to shine (as with Mitch Clark this year). Funny how the law of supply and demand can translate into opportunity for blokes like BC...
