Re: Brent Macaffer

Where did you apply your trade Spiceman?

In the back-yard or local reserve. My dad played A-reserves for Bayswater, I played C at mutliple locales before retiring at age 14 due to slight scoliosis which I no longer have. Was a fast bowler who found the transition from tapped tennis ball to cricket ball all too much (unless it was one of those white day-night WSC balls which seemed to be lighter).

My beer drinking career really took off in my teens.

Re: Brent Macaffer

I liked Botham, like Viv was willing to tonk the ball and I like 80's all-rounders who could swing the ball. Hadley was the best in my view - loved how he moved the ball through the air. Nice bowling action too like DKL.

Just imagine how good DKL would have been had he not had that back injury that kept him out of the game for a year or so. From all reports he lost some speed after the operation. Both him and Hadlee were elite bowlers, as to who the best was, I will leave that to the doyen Richie Benaud who years ago when asked who he preferred of the two said "If the wicket was lifeless, Richard Hadlee would stop exerting himself and give up in the end, whereas Dennis Lillee would keep on bending his back trying to get everything he could out of himself."

Big Bird Garner didn't go too bad either, especially in the one dayers. I know that it was the early days of one day cricket when he played but his economy and strike rates were unbelievable.

I'd definitely have DKL as a better bowler, but Hadlee was very handy with the bat as well. I like bowlers who would prefer to swing the ball than go like Thommo and just pelt it down as fast as they can.

Another Aussie bowler of that era that is much overlooked was Maxy Walker, could swing the ball or pound it in, though he certainly earned the nickname Tangles - I've never seen another elite sportsman in any sport who could run in a straight line and have his feet going in 15 different directions at the same time:D A joke doing the rounds at the time was that if you put a black tracker on his trail they would report that 5 blokes went this way :D:D:D

Re: Brent Macaffer

Yeah, thats where I saw him, I was working security. Busted his mate taking a leak behind that smashed up car at the pier, and he came up and apologised on his behalf.

Its not the first time I've spoken to him either. I rememeber during the rape allegations, he told me that Beamsy and Mac had nothing to answer for, he was right that time too, I wouldn't think CFC would've wanted Collingwood players commenting on that sort of stuff with supporters, but hes a genuine bloke each time I've spoken to him.

He also mentioned on Friday, after I asked him, that Anthony was a 'wierd character', and I'm like a tool, and he agreed without saying anything haha but yeah, as someone else mentioned, I was there, and I was watching his body language, he was talking to me casually, he won't be playing during the NAB cup at all because of OP, and if he does, then I'll deactive my account and piss off BF, thats how confident I am.

Plus, when have I have been wrong? :) I told everyone on here about the Buckley/Malthouse agreement, as well as predicted that Luke Ball would be a good fit for Collingwood earlier in the year last year before all that happened. Have faith :thumbsu:

PS: I'm not happy with Macaffer having OP, but some Collingwood supporters need to put their egos aside. You guys AREN'T the only Collingwood supporters in the inner sanctum that can get information, so deflate those egos of yours and stop pretending to be the only relevant people out there, because there are plenty of us that love this club. (Yes, I'm talking about you KS)

He's on Phillip Island because his dad is in charge of the San Remo police station. I got pulled over for a random breath test once and the cops saw my Collingwood attire in the car and said they were sick of all the talk of Collingwood because their boss was Mr. Macaffer and he wouldn't stop talking about his son being a premiership player. :p

You should've added your two cents..."When your son becomes an AFL premiership player then YOU can brag! ....please don't fine me!" haha
