OP.

Heard it from the man himself. Did mainly walking when in Arizona, and won't be playing any of the Pre-season games. Is hopeful of being ready by Round 1. Didn't sound too confident. I can't quite imagine OP going away that easily. Fingers crossed he is in top shape by finals time.

Re: Brent Macaffer

Maybe he was bullshitting you to see if you would post about it on BigFooty, considering there isn't any mention of any such injury online anywhere.

I can imagine.

Out pissed, after a night out, the first thing on his mind is for him to test out whether I'm going to put up a dialogue of what he has said on BigFooty :thumbsu:

Collingwood players are told not to speak of injuries though because certain people can't be trusted with such info, and then spread stories on public forums, so maybe he was having a lend of you due to being out being pissed after a night out.

Acknowledge what you say KS and you may well be right, though IMO on balance, it may well be that Caf had had a few and spoke the truth re this.

If he was really sticking to club protocols, more likely he'd have said jack about it, rather than making up stories

PL87 was on the spot and saw the body language, expression etc etc.

Suspect that the Caf believes that's his diagnosis, which is probably another 80/20 call, and even if correct, there's mild, moderate, severe like everything else..so hopefully he'll be OK

Re: Brent Macaffer

Why would they bother taking him to Arizona if he has OP?

Re: Brent Macaffer

It's a pity if it is a severe case that will restrict him for most of 2011, as he was just starting to show how good he could really be.

He was very good in both grand finals (brilliant early in GF2) and showed he had great hands for his size, and he is by far one of the toughest and most physical players we have.

I'd be nursing him through both the pre season and the first half of the regular season, with hopes of getting him close to 100% in time for September (and October:p) in 2011.

I think he is actually so important to us, he played a "Medhurst-type" role so well in the finals, which really takes a lot of pressure of the big fellas up forward.

Re: Brent Macaffer

Just scrolled through all of the Arizona photos and Caff is in only 2. Doing bench press with Bucks on the final day and the Trivia night.

Didn't see him on the track in the dome or on the hikes, although most had full balaclavas on so you couldn't see who was who.

Does seem odd the he wasn't in any training photos (outside benchpress) even just standing in the background.

He was a very good player for us last year. Just get him 100%, then play him.

Re: Brent Macaffer

I love the Caff but he is not a vital player. We need him to be 100% as Bay Pie has said so am definitely in favour of him having as long off as he needs to get right.

Re: Brent Macaffer

coming from someone who has had severe OP and still suffers lingering effects 4.5 years on, i wouldve prefered to have back to back knee recos, possibly adding a third to the opposite leg if need be

Re: Brent Macaffer

He'll be alright, they'll just limit his pre-season workload and see how he comes up. OP is one of those conditions which is managed rather than cured.

Re: Brent Macaffer

Sorry guys for not being down with the lingo but what is OP and what type of effect does it usually have on players?

Buttifant seems to handle these cases well. Nick Maxwell missed a lot of last pre season, and trained sporadically in season to manage his OP. Seemed to cope ok.

Luke Ball seemed to manage his well last year too.

Re: Brent Macaffer

I love the Caff, but I agree with what someone said earlier he's not vital.

This could mean Davis, Krak and Dick reak haock in the forward line.

It could also mean that someone like Rounds gets his chance.

Macaffer will have a long career for Collingwood, and OP would not be the end of the world.

Saw him up at Phillip Island on Friday night, apparently was there last night as well, gettin on the piss :thumbsu:

Re: Brent Macaffer

Oh I do love the Caff!

Didn't Josh Fraser have OP early in his career? Hopefully players injuries are better managed these days

Yeah, thats where I saw him, I was working security. Busted his mate taking a leak behind that smashed up car at the pier, and he came up and apologised on his behalf.

Its not the first time I've spoken to him either. I rememeber during the rape allegations, he told me that Beamsy and Mac had nothing to answer for, he was right that time too, I wouldn't think CFC would've wanted Collingwood players commenting on that sort of stuff with supporters, but hes a genuine bloke each time I've spoken to him.

He also mentioned on Friday, after I asked him, that Anthony was a 'wierd character', and I'm like a tool, and he agreed without saying anything haha but yeah, as someone else mentioned, I was there, and I was watching his body language, he was talking to me casually, he won't be playing during the NAB cup at all because of OP, and if he does, then I'll deactive my account and piss off BF, thats how confident I am.

Plus, when have I have been wrong? :) I told everyone on here about the Buckley/Malthouse agreement, as well as predicted that Luke Ball would be a good fit for Collingwood earlier in the year last year before all that happened. Have faith :thumbsu:

PS: I'm not happy with Macaffer having OP, but some Collingwood supporters need to put their egos aside. You guys AREN'T the only Collingwood supporters in the inner sanctum that can get information, so deflate those egos of yours and stop pretending to be the only relevant people out there, because there are plenty of us that love this club. (Yes, I'm talking about you KS)

I think it was only the one person who was doubting accuracy Pie Lebo.

PS in the event he DOES play NAB cup, pls don't p1ss off!! Things can change rapidly sometimes, and he may only have a mild case, or even possibly he's fearing he has it, but it hasn't been scanned yet to prove it, or the guy who reported the scan stuffed the report up, lots of possible things :)
