Well looking at the stats from yesterdays SANFL games, it appears that Brett Burton did alright in his come back game from a bad ankle injury.

11 Kicks
2 Marks
4 Handballs
2 goals and 1 point

Sounds promising, lets hope we see him back next week.

I was under the impression that Welshy would be playing for Westies this week. I watched the game on TV eagerly to see how he would go and wouldn't you know it - he didn't play! He is not listed in the best players for West reserves, does anybody know if he played this week? by all reports he was ready to resume, I was hoping he would have a good game and be ready for selection in the next couple of weeks.

Yes he did play for west reserves yesterday. I was there watching him and he didnt play too badly, considering he hasnt played a game of footy in a while.

He actually kicked two goals which werent in the paper (either a mis-print or someone is blind), and they were pretty good goals. he had a couple more shots on goal but they missed.

Some great tackling put sturt under pressure, but he will need a couple more games with them to gain more confidence.

Thanks Radar - appreciate that. I was a bit worried about him when I didn't see him play or read his name in the reserves. Glad to hear he did alright - lets hope he can string some games together and get some match form so he can be considered for the mighty Crows!

Radar Reilly, how did Jacob Schuback play yesterday?????? The paper said he kicked 4 goals so would it be safe to assume that he played as a forward??????

Cheers!!!!!!;)
Well I think he played in the centre for a while, but he was electric throughout most of the day.
Was really skillful by foot and managed to lay some fantastic tackles. Played a great game really, he is quite entertaining to watch
I reckon he might be knocking on the selectors door VERY soon.;)

true. how are they suppposed to improve if they arent getting any competition?!!

That's very true. I mean Sturt reserves weren't the best competition for them. They need decent match practice.

Schuback and Smith

I have been disappointed that Schuback has spent so long in the reserves this year. Last year by all reports he had a fantastic year and played the whole season in West's senior side regularly scoring goals and being in the best players.

Then this year hasn't played a senior game. Is this a concern?

And also with Matthew Smith I thought he might even push for a berth with the Crows at some stage and all he has done is play reserves for Port Adelaide. I noticed that he changed to Sturt last week and if it's the same Smith, according to the paper he played quite well. Can anyone who was there report on how Smith looked for Sturt. And what type of role could we expect him to play for the Crows if he ever gets selected?

I haven't seen him in that game but Blues_Girl reckons he is a talent. He is tall enough for KP but he is more of a flanker. Check thread SANFL Crows (I think)

I watched most of the Sturt-West game Stiffy, and he got a lot of the ball, mostly by running off his man, or mopping up loose balls off the pack. Certainly doesn't play like a KPP and doesnt use the ball particularly well.

As far as I'm concerned the jury's still out on Smith.
