Throw a blank cheque at him, who cares if we have some decent tall defenders, Lake can play either end, and if he wants to play FB, we will have the best in the league. Send Garland forward instead, Warnock as depth.

If we want to be a serious challenger, we need quality, sign Lake up.

Er, no he can't. He has never kicked a bag of goals for the Bulldogs, they might have chucked him up there once or twice but if you look at the way he kicks for goal you'll realise he wouldn't be a good forward.

I won't be happy if this happens. Yes, Lake is a gun, but why strengthen the strongest part of our team and neglect other areas? I know we'd be giving up nothing for him (Which I'm also against, we'd be wrecking any trade negotiations with the Bulldogs for years to come) but he'd be taking up a very large part of our cap.

Please re-sign with the Dogs Brian and save me from tearing my hair out.

If they did that then the Dogs would just take the first round pick that the Hawks would offer.

Haven't the Dogs said they won't trade him?

Could become a Nick Stevens situation, so an example of a trade could be Preseason pick 1 + pick 18 & 34 for pick 6 from Sydney. The only issue would be how to guarantee Lake not signing with the Dogs between the national and preseason drafts.

Yes but if the AFL allowed teams to trade PSD picks then Dogs wouldn't have said that in the first place and it would just make the PSD even more irrelevant than it is now.

Not every player needs to be under 23, he's 27 so he's got a fair amount of time left in the game and we've got more than enough youth on our list getting a 27 year old gun would not hurt.

He won't go into the PSD but people are idiotic if they think we should pass on him if he was there unless another club offered us some type on incentive to pass on him.

This is quite possible, what we gotta remember guys is that Lake is turning 28 next year, the blokes just had a baby, he would be looking for the biggest pay cheque to cement his and his familys future.

Would not at all be surprised if hes traded, wether its to Mfc or another club.

Not on the deal he got at the end of last year, hasn't shown enough desire to stay in shape or work even remotely hard this year.

And i think he is the type of player we need, i like Garland and Rivers but i dont think they are 2nd Talls, and Garland can play on mids to small types also, getting a Lake type would be huge, our defence would be epic

I'm not really one to buy into rumour and innuendo but there is talk of some friction between he and club, for whatever reason. I may be wrong in saying that though.

In any case, a fresh start might be what he needs. For mine he's certainly welcome

Frawley takes the best forward, Garland takes the second while Rivers plays loose, reading the ball and doing his stuff. Macdonald takes the third best, or whatever suits. Bartram/Nicholson takes the small, depending on who, and their strengths and weaknesses.
