I reckon Andy Collins at Carlton just simply ain't gonna work out for either party. I know it's early days but I reckon we stand a chance of being able to do a Trent Croad type trade-back deal in next year or two and get him back ...fairly cheaply too, perhaps even for a diluted draft 4th round pick.

Would he still be of value to us or has his role already been covered? Frankly I think we've seen enough of Nahas this year to say he is a great worker, but lacks class and can't take us up the ladder, so there's one role/spot for Andy to move into. What do you think?

Signed a three year deal, by the time he's back 'on the market' he'll have been super-seeded.

I'd rather have robbie nahas than collins. he's gone, its time to move on.

Thus far we look to have been the big winners from this trade. Why would we want to bring an average player back to the club in a few years time? If we bring back Collins then why not Raines too:eek:

Time for a few tiger faithful to cut the strings with Collins and look forward.

I've been watching him a bit at Carlton..... he seems to be struggling... always coughing it up. Clanger kicks...etc... hopefully they persevere with him. If not he will find him self stuck at Preston pretty quick and his value will plummet.

He has done really well to get a 3 year deal... If Carlton want to chop him then they will have to pay him out.

Tying to get him back is not a stupid Idea if he struggles this season.... Carlton will want to cut it's losses and will basically give him away.. We then can get him back if we want.

Was he that good to start with, really?? I hope things get better for the guy but IMO we have shafted the Blues big time on this deal. Grigg will turn out to be of not already a good fit with guys like Cotchin, Martin, Foley, Conca and Jackson.

I admit to not knowing tons about Collins before he came to Carlton, but mannnnnnnnnnn his two games for the Blues so far have sucked. I feel for the guy, I'm sure he's not *this* bad, and that he'll sort himself out and contribute something. At some stage. But wow. This trade is NOT working out for us at the mo.

That said, Grigg had already left when we made the trade, so you'll find very few (intelligent) Carlton fans that would have made the deal under normal circumstances. Ie. The trade was always going to be a loss... I just didn't realise we were getting NOTHING in return. It's no surprise Grigg has started well for the Tiges, and I think what you're getting is what you can expect. Definitely not an A-grade, but stronger, fast, and a ball-magnet B-grade middy. Was disappointed he left, but good luck to him.

Just please tell me there's something to Collins that he hasn't shown yet .

We loved him when he got knocked out, came back on ground and kicked 3 goals and won the game against Sydney, but apart from that he showed glimpses

Yeah/Nah. The blues have been torn a huge one on this deal and they're only starting to reach for the lube now. One good quarter does not make a footballer, Collins was a turn-over king and will be lucky to play another game for the blues EVER. Grigg on the other hand, wow, didn't realize 2011 was going to be his break out year, but always knew he would be a part of the tiger awakening.

clearly his heart remains at Tigerland!

Or possibly he was just looking for a forward starting with R and got momentarily confused and fluffed it. New team and all that.

this deal was forced by Grigg and we are looking the beneficiaries, however, Andy got some early opportunities at Richmond and has his best footy ahead - we persevered.

If we are in a position to want him back then we are fkt because we ought have some competent forwards and mids by next year.

That said Id love to have him back - I think he is capable of tidying up his game and its not far off- then his awful game the other day looks pretty good - goals, slick passes - just a few % away and he can do it, and more.

anyway - Grigg has been going well, thats what counts

Odear.
Negativity is a drug for some Tiger supporters.

He's gone and will improve at Carlton.

We have done brilliantly with Grigg.
Look at all the stat sheets on the Richmond site.

He's at the top or near in all of them.

Good on you Griggstar!

Keep up the good work.

Time to move on and think of our club moving forward.

DON'T STOP THINKIN' ABOUT TOMORROW!

Tomorrow is Sunday evening.:D

The walk up the mountain.

As much I loved Andy Collins we certainly got the much much MUCH better deal from this swap, Grigg is perfect for Richmond.

No thanks.

Left an impressionable game against the Swans on many.

Fortunately Carlton may have been one of them. Might have had to find someone else for the Grigg trade had it not been for that game.

Tugga, should still be able to post about past players if we want to follow their progress but if its relishing in them failing then its a bit boring.

Firstly i would like to thank therustytrombone for all the great promotional & marketing work he has done with the brand known as andy collins.

The kid had great hear & started off as a wirey kid that was way too small & skinny to play afl football but after a combination of hard work & average richmond playing list was given an opportunity and did ok

nothing special but just ok, but swan & icke have beeen reading big footy forums for years and have pretty much based their recruiting around these forums.

Example A. ................ Marc Murphy pick 1 leaving behind
Ryder,pendlebury,higgins,thomas

Example B. ................. Bryce Gibbs pick 1 leaving behind
Selwood,Reiwoldt,boak

Example C ................. Mathew Kruezer pick 1 leaving behind

TRENT COTCHIN

Andy collins is a great kid but would of been struggling to get game time in 2 years .................... He has done well to get a 3 year deal from the tankers that will atleast nett the kidd 600-700 k over 3 years

Rusty Time to talk up ......... NAHAS the next K.Bartlett

:thumbsu: yeah lets start by shaving Nahas hair off :D

Some people have short memories, or change their minds very quickly.

And let's not forget he has only played around 25 games. The way some of you speak you would think he was 27 and had showed nothing.

I think he is a quality player, I would be very happy with him still being on our list and should the blues want to trade back for peanuts I would take him back.

Yeah our team will have improved by then, but so will he.
