Bring back Andy Collins

Firstly i would like to thank therustytrombone for all the great promotional & marketing work he has done with the brand known as andy collins.

The kid had great hear & started off as a wirey kid that was way too small & skinny to play afl football but after a combination of hard work & average richmond playing list was given an opportunity and did ok

nothing special but just ok, but swan & icke have beeen reading big footy forums for years and have pretty much based their recruiting around these forums.

Example A. ................ Marc Murphy pick 1 leaving behind
Ryder,pendlebury,higgins,thomas

Example B. ................. Bryce Gibbs pick 1 leaving behind
Selwood,Reiwoldt,boak

Example C ................. Mathew Kruezer pick 1 leaving behind

TRENT COTCHIN

Andy collins is a great kid but would of been struggling to get game time in 2 years .................... He has done well to get a 3 year deal from the tankers that will atleast nett the kidd 600-700 k over 3 years

Rusty Time to talk up ......... NAHAS the next K.Bartlett

I have to say I sat down with my brother last night who is a Carlton supporter and we broke down Andy's game and studied every possession and every clanger. It was the worst game I have ever seen any player play in the history of watching AFL. I seriously do not know what Ratten has done to the poor kids game. We all know that at Richmond Andy had silky smooth skills , never missed a target and made 12 tackles a game.

I personally think the weekends game is the end of Andy and Rattens career.
A. How does Andy get a run ahead of Kane Lucas, Ellard , Armfield , Watson the list goes on
B. How do you make Andrew Walker sub before him?
C. When Collins is having the worst game ever and it is obvious that he can not keep up with the pace of the game why would you not sub him off.
D. When 2 Essendon players do their ACL's in the first 20 minutes of the game why do you wait till 1 minute before 3 quarter time to inject your sub.

I'm sorry that game and Andy being Traded and picked ahead of those boys will be the first cut in what is going to be the end of Rattens tenure at Carlton.

As much I loved Andy Collins we certainly got the much much MUCH better deal from this swap, Grigg is perfect for Richmond.

No thanks.

Exactly at first I thought we were the losers in the trade but after 4 rounds this year I'd say grigg has been in our top 3 every week.Hope he keeps it up..:thumbsu:

I liked him, he played better on the wing than as a specialist forward.
Certainly knew how to get a lot of the ball

Would even go as far to say that he was a natural midfielder. Great skills, decision making, and knew how to find the ball - and still managed to kick goals even when he was supposed to be up the ground.

I reckon Andy was a very good finisher and i'm not just talking about game v Swans. He was pretty good late in games v Freo and v Lions. But, I agree average in some other matches - had plenty of company. Definitely agree we got better of Grigg trade, but I'd be happy ending up with both. Remember Hawks ended up with both Hodge and Croad after initially trading Croad for no 1 pick (Hodge). Great deal for them, terrible deal for Dockers

The Tankers will have well and truly stuffed him up by the end of his contract. At Richmond he had heart and desire. Showing none of that at Carlton. Oh well, the cheats have ruined another.:D

More than happy with the trade plus the Blues took over the year left on his contract at the Tiges.

Andy should improve but to be honest I cant see enough upside left in him to warrant him coming back to Tigerland.

I think Andy is a little better than what he has shown this season however I do not think he is good enough for us to get him back though.

apparently he did his shoulder playing in the seconds today

Thats bad luck and I wish him well.

Going to be tougher for him to break into Carltons team than ours and after a poor start has alot of work to do and needs some confidence to go wit it.

Hate to see him shunted off to another club again.

:)He'll be lucky to see out his contract!
Trust me guys and girls, his papers are already stamped at Carlton.
I doubt you'll be seeing Andy at senior level much at all.
They aren't impressed one bit.
Huge win for us getting Grigg.
Collins was always over-hyped on here and when you sit back and have a look objectively, you see the real Andy Collins.
Won't see out three years! Trust me!

Certainly will be tuff for him and the shoulder will not make it easier. Andy's a fighter but he has it all ahead of him. The one positive is that his manager got him a 3 year deal with the tankers. At least he will be financially secure.

Would love it if he became a Coburg and VFL legend hell I'd be pumped if he made it back on our list but on last weeks form he'd be flat out getting a game with any club

Why are people saying we got 'reamed' in this trade?

Grigg was gone.

We got something in return rather than nothing.

Pretty simple?

Agreed. At the time I was pretty annoyed that we gave up Collins for a player who was already gone from Carlton. However, after seeing what Grigg brings to the team, I am more than happy that we pushed this trade through...

I think most people are saying you got 'reamed', due to the amount of Carlton supporters who came and continue to come on our board and talk about Grigg being a clanger king / spud.. Only after you guys lost him did these opinions come out.. Bit of tit for tat..

Also azzle, remember the amount of collins vs grigg threads that went up after the trade, bagging us for the trade - with many saying collins was the better player? I loved collins - all guts and knew how to kick a goal, and I was devastated to lose him when we could conceivably have got Grigg for nothing. But we had to trade collins to get Houli, and with both Grigg and Houli coming along very nicely and Collins flopping, we look to be a big winner out of this.

I wouldn't give up on Collins just yet. the guy has some real class and skills. The fact is he's probably adjusting to playing with a reasonable list as opposed to the cr*p he's had to play with the last few years.

He has to find a position at the Blues - for us he was a HFF - at the Blues, those spots are taken by Garlett, Betts, Simpson etc (that's why Yarran is down back). It may just be the wrong environment for him.

Theres a major problem with your post here Wallaby !

The only reason andy collins got games was because of our crappy list
I really cant see where he fits in or where he will get a game at carlton with the role andy plays they already have better players than andy to fill these roles.

Andy would be ranked around 10th in line for their midfield & 4th or 5th inline for the med/small foward role.

Bullants then delisted after 2-3 years for andy i'm afraid
