i dont think we ever played that poorly under him

the real worry is i knew we were going to lose this match 10 minutes in

why do we just decide not to turn up some days??

i feel sick

Outcoached

Would love to hear a few comments from people who think that Connolly was all that was standing in the way of our fabulous list and a Premiership make some comments on how they think Harvey went against a coach who has his neck on the chopping block. From what I saw, Harvey was absolutely pantsed today.

Here here!

I'm still dark on the clubs 'process' (or lack thereof) for picking Harvey. Nobody else was even interviewed (?).

Re: Outcoached

Have to admit, I did think it was unusual that we would play such a tall side on Subiaco on a hot day. We're not exactly lightning at the best of times, yet we seemed to be happy to play a slow side.
Given that, we simply had to win the clearances. We got smashed like a mallet on a bag of marshmallows.

Its not the coach, its time we realised they cant cut the mustard, they arent as good as we think they are.

I've been saying that for years, players make the coach not the other way round , didn't stop the supporters turning on their own even today, losing CC has set us back as I feared it would .

A lot of people owe him an apology.

Whats done is done so lets get behind the present staff and hope they come up to speed quickly.

Harvey was touted as being the coach that would bring commitment and hardness to the team. Maybe he could be forgiven for losing a tactical battle against a more experienced coach, but there was no sign of a team commitment to win. As for hardness, well I expect all of you watched the game.

I agree that the players today were mostly to blame, but they needed firing up. It was a poor performance all round.

Harvey will be judged from what he does now, not what's happened in the past 4 weeks. Unfortunately for him he doesn't have more than a handful of decent young blood to call on.

Past 11 weeks.

The playing list is much the same with the additions of Mayne & Palmer.

Maybe CC had this motley lot performing to the maximum.

Can't remember too many 10+ goal floggings at home and the margin actually flattered us today.

We have not fired a shot all year, even the derby was a nothing game considering howpoor WC have been.

I think we are targetting the wrong people. Clearly there was a lack of interest out there today from the players - they need to accept responsibility. Harvey can only do so much when that's the case - he's can't replace them after the siren's gone. What he does at selection night this week will be where we can judge him - he needs to make the serial offenders accountable.

Coaches don't get replaced because everything is working well and they are rarely the only cause for poor performance. Wallace has been coaching for a very long time, so he must have had some idea at some stage, Harvey has been in charge of his own team for 4 weeks. He has inherited a team with problems - how about we give him half a chance to fix some of them before we stick the boots in?

Re: Outcoached

I was a CC supporter, but we have to back Harvs now. This week and the team's performance in the next two games will tell us 90% of what we need to know about Harvs. Will he tear strips off the team as a whole and will he make some tough decisions in swinging the axe - and I don't mean axing scapegoats like Tarrant who tried, I'm looking at players like Peakey, who are not showing any real accountability.

CC also recruited most of this motley lot. Let's not forget that.

If our list isn't good enough it's not Harves' fault. It's going to take him a while to get his own players in.

Your man has to decide if he really wants to coach. If he does he will have to make the courageous move and begin "the Rebuild".He has to start again at the bottom, like everyone CC was never the man .I think perhaps money and club cheifs have tied themselves up in contracts that they can't get out of with some players. This is not meant as a crack or to be offensive to Freo or this club board, but this club is very baffleing to me .There maybe needs to be wholesale changes in thinking at Freo?

That may be the case, but CC was wholly responsible for the playing list after a few years. Harvey might be able to argue he hasn't got the cattle, but CC could hardly do that given he picked the cattle. Although when you've got McManus & Carr playing in the WAFL, you wonder why we don't have a couple of 18 year olds there instead.

But it's a moot point anyway given how badly we played. I'm more disappointed than angry tonight.

You reckoned We just needed acoach that would make them harder.

Re: Outcoached

The coach has a major responsibility for the commitment the players show on the filed, and also for having a game plan.

What's he supposed to do when the game has started and they show such disinterest though Gav?

One thing a lot of people were critical of with CC was his reluctance to make any moves when things were clearly not working. Harvey throws them around, tries everything he can to get things to work, but with the pathetic attitude they had today, unless he found a way to clone Pav at quarter time, we were in big trouble.

The focus has to move to the players - they are responsible for at least having a go out there week in week out. There's not too many who would be able to look Harvs in the eye and say they did that today.
