As a kid I always loved going to the footy and trying my heart out to the the roar meter at 100% to hear that awesome Tiger roar!

I reckon we need to bring this back for next year! :thumbsu:

Just watching the replay of the Freo game and even though there wasn't a massive crowd the roar when Jack got the first mark was amazing!

How about the "Doggie woof"? If that's what it was called. Where the Bulldog fans went "doggie doggie doggie" for the reply of "woof woof woof". :D

Yay for an sms meter race... not!

Would prefer the ROAR meter

one of the earliest memories i had was the roar meter. makes us more unique and something special for the players and supporters to share

What about the roar when we kicked the last for the game..........even Dipstick acknowledged the ROAR is back !!!!!!!

For those of you who haven't already done so watch the last 30 seconds of the Freo game, and listen to the roar as Andy Collins kicks the last goal of the game - even watching it through the tv/computer the sound is enormous and every time I watch and hear it i get goosebumps - we are coming, you better believe it!

That roar actually distorts the microphones if you hear the start of it.

Unbelievable passion!

Roar Meter was one of the Lamest things ive ever seen EVER
IT SUCKED
PLAIN AND SIMPLE
IT WAS TERRIBLE IT WAS WORSE THAN THE SMS RACE..

Ok it wasnt worse but it was as bad!

Terrible hope its gone forever

And to think it was done without any crappy roar meter. Real ROAR ----> Fake Roar.

And yeah I loved it. Someone should youtube it.

Its interesting that the posters who were young kids when it was around, like it and us older posters think of it as an embarrassment.

Has me admitting that it was effective and us fans need to put up with it for the kids as lame as it is.

When I was a kid the club gimmick that seemed to be yanked pretty quickly after a year was the Tigerettes. I remember older supporters at the time found it an embarrassment whereas I though it was pretty cool.

Beat me to the puch 1980GF re the Tigerettes... As a red blooded pimply kid I thought they were kinda hot! :o

Load of crap. We don't need gimmicks or to be shown how to cheer like the dopey Yanks do when they watch their boring, useless sports.:thumbsd:

Our game is good enough as a spectacle to stand on it's own merits.:thumbsu:

I thought it was cool at the time. Not sure if we need it now. Adding gimmicks to Australian sports always looks tacky. The yanks, to their credit pull it off but I don't think it translates well here.

Probably the lamest thing I have ever seen at any public event.
I feel embarrassed for the idiots that take part in that chant.

oh ew.

the roar meter was hideous. poorly timed, the moment had already passed by the time they got it up. Then there was this nonsensical souless second cheer.

ew.

we do not need to be told when to cheer.

Contrived piece of crap,
just some techie punching in a number for the display.

You know the roar when you hear it, don't need a fluffer calling you johnny holmes when you know you're wittle william brownless.
