True Lions protest over Murphy

The Carlton-Fitzroy Lions have described as laughable the Brisbane Bears attempt to recruit Marc Murphy as a third round father-son pick, describing the Bears claim on anything Fitzroy is over.

Carlton-Fitzroy Chairman Dyson Hore-Lacy said the Brisbane reversal to the Bears name and logo meant that the merger was over. Fitzroy was very happy in it's current form of the Carlton-Fitzroy Lions and if anyone should have access to the son of a FITZROY great it should be Carlton-Fitzroy.

"How many games did John Murphy play for the Brisbane Bears again?' asked Hore-Lacy.

"No doubt the AFL will take the Bears side," said President Hore-Lacy. "They've attempted to give everything else to the Bears, so why not this as well."

Hore-Lacy's criticism of the Bears comes within days of the recent release of 2005 membership figures. The Bears' Victorian membership reportedly had slumped to less than 100, as the Fitzroy faithful desert their former merger partners and are joining Carlton-Fitzroy enmass. Carlton-Fitzroy memberships have steadily risen despite a poor year on the field, with at least 10,000 of their 35,000 members believed to be old Fitzroy followers.

Long time Fitzroy follower Bernie Murray Roos it was great to see the old colours playing out of Fitzroy's old home ground at Princes Park. "There's nothing better that to see that maroon, navy blue and gold jumper strutting it's stuff. Can't say I like the gold CFC as much as the old gold FFC, but it'll do.

Rumors persist that young Marc Murphy will knock back the Bears cheap attempt to recruit him and will stay in Melbourne. "There's nothing I'd like better than to play with dad's old club at Carlton-Fitzroy" he was quoted as saying.

Other clubs are expected to join the growing chorus of protest at this underhanded move by the Bears.

The AFL commission running the Bears refused to comment.

Bears response typical
10:10:51 PM Sun 2 October, 2005
Paul Gough
Sportal/exclusive to carltonfitzroyfc.com.au

Carlton-Fitzroy have slammed the Brisbane Bears response to the Murphy issue as typical of the heavy handed approach they use in response to any issue and criticism.

"Go have a cry elsewhere" said Carlton-Fitzroy President Dyson Hore-Lacy. "Typical of the response we've come to expect from the AFL administration for a number of years now. First they attempt to run Fitzroy out of the competition, then they forcibly merge us with the Brisbane Bears, then of course they leave everything with the Bears, when the independent Fitzroy Football Club seeks to merge with Carlton another financially troubled club in Melbourne."

"We raise a very important point in relation to the fair running of the competition and of course the administration do everything they can to protect their love child the Brisbane Bears. No wonder the Bears did so well last season, they've had everything gifted to them on a platter."

"We have no choice but to accept the decision by the AFL administraton who of course also own and run the Bears, but if the Bears win a premiership with Marc Murphy in the team, then the football world at large will widely regard that premiership as a tainted premiership, gifted to them by a compliant and corrupt AFL administration."

"We ask again...how many games did John Murphy play with the Brisbane Bears? Can the AFL administration answer that?"

:D

what a waste of 5 minutes to type that up

Bears and AFL refuse to answer questions

Paul Gough
Sportal/exclusive to carltonfitzroyfc.com.au

The perception of complicity between the AFL commission and the Brisbane Bears in the Marc Murphy issue is growing, with both the Bears and the AFL refusing to make any comment with growing calls from the media, the public and a number of clubs for Marc Murphy to go into the National Draft, instead of being taken father-son by a club, who Marc Murphy's father never played for.

Stung by what they see as unfounded criticism the heirarchy of the Bears who double as the AFL commission have bunkered down hoping that it will all blow over.

Dyson Hore-Lacy, President of the Carlton-Fitzroy Lions has vowed not to let the matter rest. "God knows we need a bit of AFL controversy over the off-season to liven up the competition and Carlton-Fitzroy is no stranger to controversy. We demand that the AFL and their franchise the Brisbane Bears explain their decision to allow Marc Murphy to be drafted by the Bears, when his father never played for the Brisbane Bears."

Hore-Lacy said he was not hopeful of any intelligible AFL answer any-time soon and said he expected more puerile one-liners or even abuse from Bears and AFL officials seeking to protect their favored position. He called on other clubs to register their protest as well.

200 odd words too long and complicated for you is it? :p

I'll try and dumb it down for you in future.

Last time I checked this wasn't an essay writing competition. If you wanted to be really intellectual you could get the exact same point across in one paragraph instead of waffling on.

Oh I see.

So West Coast are allowed to write long press releases (essays) about player movements at their club, but Carlton are to keep theirs short.

FFS I'm not serious about Marc Murphy. It was just an attempt to inject a bit of atmosphere into the game and liven the place up a bit.

Bears Draft David Armitage at #12

Brisbane today secured the services of young midfielder David Armitage, in what was an awesome bit of drafting by the bears.

"We are stoked to secure David with pick 12. We see him as a future leader of the club and could even go down as one of the club greats. He is quick and has exceptional foot skills. His decision making is first class, overall he is a very good player."

Brisbane also have picks 17,30,56,59,63,75,78,

Punt worth return

Brisbane with pick 17 in the national draft took highly rated Gavin Urquarht. The young half backer looks to have promise as a rebounding defender. Brisbane Coach rizzo was said to have been taken by his decision making and his foot skills.

"He has great skills and awareness. We think he can play from round 1. He reminds me of a Chris Johnson type player. He can kill teams make no mistake. It was a toss up between him, jetta and o'keefe. But we realised that we need some more defenders so we win with Gavvy."

Aboriginal Talent lands at the GABBA

Brisbane today nailed young aboriginal gun, Nathan Dejurukaajssfdjfhasda ( i cant spell his name). Nathan is likened to gun byron pickett and he has the body of a tank. He is quick and hits the pack hard. Something that queensland is deperate for.

"We are stoked to have landed Nathan so late in the draft. He will be a dominate player for us for a long time."
