brown not the answer

Audas,

I'll bet you were cheering and loved Browny as much as the rest of us when he took Wallis down in '99. Browny was the type of footballer we all love to have on our team and hate them when they are in the opposition. Lets not let the current situation confuse our memories of the past.

Lets wait and see what happens. Just because the rumours are that Brown is putting the ticket together behind the scenes does not mean he will ending up the president.

Should we let him draft Gardiner after drafting the likes of McLaren, Bryan, Deluca and Mott?

FFS use some logic...........the board are stepping in because the main man isn't up to it

Are you a journo from the Age:) Ripping things out of context like that ffs...:D

If you can't see a problem with what Smorgen said regardless of who the coach is then I'm not sure what I can say really.

Interesting you used those four who were all 24 or under when they were drafted:D

don't kid yourself into believing the media hype about having no control. He would walk down to Morrabbin if that was the case.....or back to the Roos, and they would love him (go on.....highlight this and say good riddence....I know ya want to....).

  • Not sure where I got the impression that you thought I was anti-Pagan Bluebear:D
  • I only believe he should go now because he is having a destabilising effect on the club as so many want to blame him for everything.
  • It would be interesting to compare the comments about him after 2004 and then the pre-season cup win to the ones now.
  • For me it's too late now. The damage has been done for better or worse and he should go. I don't think he is a great coach, but nor do I think he is a terrible one:)
  • I still stand by my comment that there isn't a perfect time to sack a coach.
  • Even if one had been appointed a couple of weeks ago you would have a guy making decisions on a list that they couldn't possibly know inside out, which again is less than perfect. There are always times when a coach has to be sacked, but whatever time you do it, there are always pros and cons.
  • Not that I think any new coach would be a certainty to come from outside the club given the people involved, but that is another issue fraught with danger.
  • No matter which way we go we have problems that will be tough to resolve. I just think that given human nature things can't go on as they are and we need unity not this self-destructive divisiveness:thumbsd:

  • Exactly mate:). I have never had the impression that Brown was going to be president, but any ticket they mustered would have to be pretty bad to be worse than what we have:D
  • Lets not forget that Smorgan gained power by being underhanded either. He wasn't exactly smelling of roses before his post season gaffs

I think we all know Smorgon is not the man to be President.
The question is though, WHO?
Who is willing to put the time in?

Our club at the moment is completely void of leaders on and off the field. At present I can't see anyone willing or able to lead us out of the darkness other than one person.
Sticks certainly doesn't have the business background to do the job, but he has the profile and leadership skills to do so. If he was surrounded by pro-active people who had the best interests of the club at heart it could be a huge success.
He would need to get rid of Malouf, the guy is a glorified public servant (no offence intended). What I mean by that is, he is manager of the status quo. He can't build a business and this is what we need to do!
Fraser can lead the charge to spill the board, I think the longer things stay the same the longer we are going to struggle.

THE CLUB NEEDS VISION AND DIRECTION!

Getting some of the old boys back around the club will have a profound effect on the young playing group aswell.

Haavent mentioned a thing about his footy mate. WOuldnt want garry Ablett heading up the blues either would you ? NO.

Dont try and go off topic to win an argument, it dosent work.

The guy did some ok things, but on the whole I thought he was a disgrace, his nickname was "dog" FFS. He was an animal and not a nice bloke. If he had the talent of bradley, or camporeale then maybe you could let it slide but he didnt. The guy was a first rate d1ick on the ground. His performances and treatment of people of the ground were even worse. He is notorious for starting fights (along with his brother)and beating people up at kids 21st birthdays and all kinds of really nasty stuff. It is his OFF-FIELD performance that matters here mate, I think you are the one who is confusing his past glories with what is needed today. Imagine if he got in charge of the club and then all this stuff started coming out in the media. Great. Quite simply if Brownie gets his filthy paws on this club it is the end, he is utterly moronic.

Browns motivations are very questionable. Whats more his timing and stated goals are also poor. Qutie simply anyone who thinks that Pagan has had a fair crack at helping the Blues is deluded. Those that seek short term solutions, immediate gratification through isolating individuals to appropriate blame in a short sighted ill-conceived manner as a panacea to our woes are DEFINITELY NOT people I want anywhere near the helm of this ship.

This guy has a reputation that far exceeds that of One David Rheece Jones, at least Rheece knew it and didnt pretend other-wise.

We have all heard the stories, we have all seen how he behaved as a player, there is not much about this guy that would earn him respect amongst his peers in the AFL.

You wrote this before Audas. I read this as critising his on-field behaviour and using it as a justification for him to not be president.

I also find it amusing that in the process of responding to me, you go on to say he was a first rate d1ck on the ground without the talent of a Bradley or Camporeale.

I could not give a sh1t what sort of footballer he was. Irrelevent to the issue at hand.

If your point is complete incoherence then kudos. Dont know what you find amusing, nor why you are dissassociating yourself from your own issue regarding his footballing prowess ? Perhaps some clarity.

LIked him when he played but he is a sewer rat. John Elliot and him have a lot in common

Audas, anything about Brown's behaviour off field are relevant to whether Brown should have a leadership role at the club.

Anything that extrapolates what he was like as a footballer to what he is like off field is not, something you consistantly do. Leigh Matthews was a bit of a thug on the ground but he has proved to be a great coach and leader.
