I particularly like that second one, that's a gem. 1973-4 I'm guessing?
It is an outtake off BToR, it didn't even get on to Tracks. Astonishing to think the quality in his catalogue is so deep.

If I had known about it when I made the countdown, it would have been around number 12. ****ing love it.

Ah... 'Lonely in the Park'. Very good song.

But it's just another in a massive bunch of songs that he did which weren't really up to scratch in the grand scheme of things. As good as the song is, you put that on Born to Run and it stands out like a sore thumb and just doesn't fit.

But you can see that he wasn't completely done with it. 'Jungleland' has its drum sound down pat.

Yeah it wouldn't fit on BToR, but **** me, it is a great track nevertheless, never really noticed the drum beat, I pay attention to the prominent strumming of chords.

Also; this arrived today

Bruce and Little Steven were invited to perform at the memorial concert for one year anniversary of the victims of the Norway massacre at Oslo's City Square.

A cut and paste from comments on the You tube link - He sang We Shall Overcome.

The introduction by the presenter before the guys entered the satge, went something like:
After 22.07.2011 Norway receaved alot of comfort from around the world. From our neighbours and from people who really know and understands what terror is. From people who we did'nt think saw us and from all continents. From kings, presidents and ministers ... and of course from Steven van Zandt and Bruce Springsteen ...

Very tasteful that he took out the line "We are not afraid to die."

"Steve and I are honoured to be included here to night," Springsteen told the crowd. "For all of us who love democracy and tolerance, it's an international tragedy."

Don't know if any of you guys saw this
I think it's fvcking great

Then there is;

The two Norway setlists were something else. This Depression and You've Got It finally get a run, with two of my favourite catalogue cuts, Long Walk Home and Cover Me. Hell yes for You've Got It - awesome. Now, PLAY MORE SONGS FROM MAGIC DAMMIT.

It could be worse, he could play more songs from Working on a Dream. I'd rather hear him cover 'Achy Breaky Heart' again.

The Long Walk Home acoustic is great.

I have never liked Cover Me, never really grabbed at me at all.

Magic is a great album, superbly rounded album, not a bad song on it.

*shudder* Please no. I can handle Outlaw Pete and What Love Can Do, the rest, well...

Too right, Cruyff. The only positive I could see out of Romney being elected is that the songs on Magic would become topically relevant again. :thumbsu:

Have you read the countdown? (Sorry for my ignorance).

I had 5 songs on it. Girls In Their Summer Clothes ranked 19 or 20 I think from memory. Devil's Arcade, Radio Nowhere, You'll Be Comin' Down and Your Own Worst Enemy were the others.

Devil's Arcade is a hugely underrated song. It's haunting.

Played Goteborg (Sweden), last night, he must have seen our talk about Magic DrVanNostrand, as GIRLS IN THEIR SUMMER CLOTHES! was ripped out of the vault. Not only that, but the Swedes were also treated to Drive All Night! On top of that, Rosie came out, Something In The Night was played, a fvcking great setlist if you ask me.

It would have only been better if Rosie was played too, apart from that it's practically perfect. Glad to see Downbound Train got another gig and I'm Goin' Down. Also happy to see Lost In The Flood finally got a play. Wow, just wow.
Played 4 of my top 11, epic show.
And nothing more needs to said about the closer. NOTHING.

Never thought 'Jungleland' would ever be played again, to be painfully honest.

Oh, and here's the pro-shot 'Drive All Night' from night 1. Perfection.

No offence intended to the newer material, but honestly I don't understand how something like that could hardly get played, while he trots out 'Waitin on a Sunny Day' and songs from his new album on a regular basis.

That's like Da Vinci saying "yeah, I know I painted the Mona Lisa, but look, here's my latest stick figure drawing!"

There are clips floating round of Jake playing Jungleland. He absolutely smashed it out of the park. The Big Man would be proud.

Thank God it has made its way back into the setlist, I knew it would eventually. After I saw Bruce played Drive All Night, the thought came to me that Jungleland may be imminent.

Yeah I don't know how Waitin' still gets a gig, gets the crowd involved I guess. But at least the big ones are starting to get a run again!

Brilliant (as if it wouldn't be).

But I don't know. As I said before, I never thought that they'd ever play it again. Part of me thinks they never should have, no matter how awesome Jake sounds. Leave it as a permanent tribute to the Big Man by saying "this is your song, we could never play it without you".
