I'm pretty sure yeah pjcrows. Although M2 and HR1 both opened with Badlands.

Personally I wouldn't want an acoustic Thunder Road. Full band is so much better, might be alone in it, but the band makes that song.

Springsteen first appeared on stage making during Jesse Malin’s set, joining him for a cover of The Ramones’ “Rock and Roll Radio”. Later, he sat in with Willie Nile for “One Guitar”.
To conclude the evening, Springsteen performed his own 14-song, hour-and-a-half headlining set, accompanied by longtime collaborator Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers. The setlist included the live debut of High Hopes song “Frankie Fell in Love” and the third-ever performance of “Hearts of Stone”, a song which dates back to 1978. He also performed “The Promised Land”, “Darkness on the Edge of Town”, and “Atlantic City” before wrapping up the evening a little after 1 am with “Thunder Road”.

Setlist:
Rock and Roll Radio w/ Jesse Malin
One Guitar w/ Willie Nile

Adam Raised a Cain
Never be Enough Time
Darkness on the Edge of Town
Hearts of Stone
Pumping Iron
Atlantic City
Talking to the King
Franking Fell in Love
Save My Love
I’m Not Sleeping
Because the Night
The Promised Land
Light of Day
Thunder Road

I think we'll see more "stock setlists" this time. By that I don't mean worse, or shorter. I just mean that with the brand new album to promote he will have less room to be massively flexible.

Last year he'd already toured heavily for Wrecking Ball so he felt the need to be more diverse in the sets. IIRC - there was a different opener at every Oz show? Cruyff? Ebert? You guys know this shit better than I!

I think we will see an opening combo of High Hopes > Just Like Fire Would at most Oz shows, just as most of the 2012 US shows opened with We Take Care Of Our Own > Wrecking Ball.

But I could be wrong! Either way, after my show last year I thought I'd never see the band again. This is 100% bonus with no complaints at all. I'm up for whatever.

Any other thoughts on setlists? I'm thinking acoustic Thunder Road > Dream Baby Dream might be a goer as a closing combo.

Ohps missed this.

He opened Brisbane 1 and Sydney 3 with We Take Care of Our Own - in between was High Hopes Bris 2, American Land Syd 1, and Devils and Dust Syd 2 - which was 10th anniversary of Iraq War. HR 2 he started with Adam Raised a Cain.

I reckon he will only play 8-10 of the 12 songs every night off High Hopes. We will get an idea from the 4 South African shows. I reckon he will do 25 songs every night with maybe 28-30 once in Perth, Adelaide and one of the 4 out door gigs.

He repeated 9 songs at every one of the 10 shows in Oz. 3 off Wrecking Ball - Wrecking Ball, Death to My Hometown and Shackled and Drawn. Three classics Badlands, BTR and DITD. Tenth Ave Freeze Out as his tribute to Danny and Clarence, GOTJ for Tom to play and Waitin on a Sunny Day for the crowd participation song.

I reckon Dream Baby Dream will replace Tenth Ave at the end. He will find a new crowd song for every show. I reckon the 3 classics will stay.

He played 78 or 79 different songs in 10 shows depending how you count the American Medley song as 1 or 2 ( The way you do the things + 634-5789). So with 11 gigs in Oz I'd expect 60 different songs at least to be played, and maybe as high as 75.

Extraordinary records kept here:-

Interesting read...see one of my faves at 98, love the guitar on that song, underrated song that.

Well said. It's a sensational song (both musically and lyrically) with an awesome guitar solo. It would easily fit into my Top 20.

It was the first song that I heard on the album when it came out and it got me all excited about what was to follow.......then came somewhat of a letdown

Was walking down North Terrace in Adelaide this arvo listening to Incident on 57th St from Hang Rock 2 that TheAussieMusicMan shot and I downloaded off youtube, and it struck me in 3 weeks time I would have watched his Tuesday show and would be lining up for his Wednesday show in Adelaide and I might be hearing this again. Shit its close!!

I'm in the Pit for both Adelaide shows - who else in there for at least one show - pjcrows ? DrVanNostrand ? ManWithNoName ? paddy18 ? DonDraper ?

Didn't think I'd be sayin' this but..........I really like the new album. However, the title track's still not doin' it for me.

In the pit for both Adelaide shows, but don't think I'll be lining up though. Pit looks small enough to be up nice and close and we'll more than likely be driving over from Vic on the Tuesday anyway. I'll re-assess after Tuesday nights gig and might get back nice and early on Wednesday morning if I feel keen. Can you park in the car park at the AEC all day and night ? (might take my guitar with me in line if anyone is keen for a singalong)

When do you get to Melbourne?

Yeah I checked it out the other day. It costs $4 between 6am and 6.30pm and the $12 for the show after 6.30.

We will have to catch up. I will line up Tuesday. I have never been there for a show. It was built a year or so before I moved to Sydney and then haven't been there for a concert in 3 years I've been back so i have no idea about how big the pit is.

I've still got your ticket too :D

I am officially hooked on Dream Baby Dream despite the lack of meaning to the lyrics. Its just such a great melody. And watching the video 40 times helped.

It's a bloody good album.

Haven't really though about that too much yet. I won't finish work here until 5.30 on the Friday and I'm half tempted to drive straight to AAMI park after that and plonk the car somewhere near the Swan St bridge, line up overnight and then head to my in-laws in Malvern for (in Shane MacGowan's immortal words "a shit, a shave and shower") and then head back to the venue before the next roll call. Not sure yet.

I'm in the stands (but close to the stage) on Sunday night with my wife and kids (expensive family outing) so won't need to get there so early on that day.

Ah, cos there is a meetup on the Thursday night!

It's floating around on FB.

I can mail it to you if need be.

Nah don't worry. I only picked up my Adelaide show tickets yesterday and went to AEC to check it out but they wouldn't let me inside so I checked out parking, line up area and looked thru windows to see where door 4 was to get in the pit.
