I have put this in capital letters as I think people need to be reminded that he is in our Squad.

Everyone is talking about the future and the kids that we have. Names like Douglas, Van Berlo, Knights, Porplysia, Pfieffer etc are getting thrown around but I am hardly hearing anything about one of the toughest guys on our list.

BRYCE CAMPBELL

He is only 22. There was a Stupid comment made on the 2008 Team Thread saying to concentrate on the kids that can play his spot. HE IS A KID.

He is an in and under player who has that Grunt that Triggy has been talking about us needing.

CMON Triggy and Craigy. This bloke is a GUN. Hopefully after and Injury free pre season he will show everyone who hasnt seen much of him just how good he is.

And it wont take long for other Crows Supporters who arent Norwood Supporters to fall in love with this guys ball winning ability in packs and his unbelievale disposal. Plus he never misses Goals on the Run and is pretty good from a set shot as well.

With all due respects to Bryce Campbell and all of his hommies, the fact that the club would be looking for an inside midfielder with grunt suggests that they don't particularly feel that Bryce is that player at AFL level.

SANFL is vastly different to AFL. So many SANFL superstars were duds at AFL level. Just because a player is good in the SANFL doesn't mean he has what to takes to be a genuine AFL player.

Campbell might well be a useful player for us for many years to come (I certainly hope so) but can we please hold off the saviour type comments. If he was that good he would have been drafted as a younger age and much earlier in the draft.

I still don't know why we drafted him, but seeing as we did, I hope we give him at least another year and at least a couple games.

I hear what you are saying but how can we guage if he can make it at AFL level if he only gets a qtr and a half?

I will reserve judgment on whether he is an inside midfield player when he has more than 20 minutes of game time with AFC. I know SANFL is oceans apart from AFL but I believe he posses the speed and physicality to make it at the top level. Whilst I agree with Triggy's comments about midfield grunt I am positive with a good pre season and an injury free run a few opposition players are going to have their asses handed to them by Bryce Campbell.

Totally agree!!! Such a gutsy player, and one of the best tacklers I've seen, got a ton of holding the ball free kicks for Norwood and dont think there was a tackle that didnt stick all season. Love watchin his game, always ends up runnin away with the ball from the packs. Cant wait to see him get regular games for the AFC. Once he fires up he will be a nightmare for opposition midfielders.

Hes still needs another year of training and then he'll be in the 22 squad.

AND u spelt Porplyzia wrong
its PORPLYZIA not Porplysia:D

you have taken this out of context i think old son. surely clubs dont just want ONE inside midfielder with grunt?

If Bryce does get delisted he on,y has himself to blame. He was giving a whopping 32 minutes, he should have made the most of it.

One problem I have with Campbell is his discipline. If he cements a spot in the side, he'll spend half the year suspended.

Already had some suspensions in the SANFL for cheap shots on players

Please, please refrain from posting if you clearly have no idea about the issue.

During his time with Norwood, Bryce Campbell has been suspended on ONE occasion and I believe it was for 2 or 3 weeks.

So yes, I can certainly see where you're coming from when you claim he'll spend half the year suspended.

Yeh but i don't understand how you can say that when we haven't really seen him play AFL.

Went over and saw Campbells first AFL game (i beleive) against Essendon 17. He wasn't on the ground a lot but when he was he played in the forward pocket where i was sitting. To be quite honnest i didn't think much of him while playing SANFL. In the few times that Norwood played Sturt hadn't really noticed him much. But this game i though he did a couple of good things and made a good contest against his opponent. I though after this effort he deserved to play a couple more games (even off the bench) before completely judged.

You wouldn't have noticed him much in the two games Norwood played Sturt in this year as he didn't play either game. I guess he could have done more to get noticed in the crowd. Perhaps you are talking about previous years?

which raises the point of why we let our youngster sit through 3 seasons of SANFL before being given a debut.

because there is no set way to bring a junior though - all are different in how they need to be managed. It's what makes us humans so interesting.

In my gymnastics experience, we often have absolutely outstanding juniors that just shine though, but it is very rare that those actually make it to senior elite level. Often it is the ones that are a little messy and can't quite control things and often finish down the bottom of each level that end up as the top line seniors eventually. I know this is a different sport and I am talking about kids that are about 7 years old and up but junior development of elite athletes can be compared to an extent.

...

Neil Craig described your list as 'stagnant'. He delayed the inclusion of Nick Gill and once he came in he realised 'Oh wait, he can actually do the job'.

I BET if you had Justin Westhoff on your list, he wouldn't have played a game yet.

Bit hard to play injured in the first half of the season.

I reckon this is the second time you have come out with this crap, and I see Drummond below (well above when I post this) has probably already put you in your place about it.
