Bryce Gibbs - AFC captain 2011

What do you think about this?

He is a SA lad and should be running around for the Crows today. He is out of contract this year and hasnt resigned as yet. I think we should chase him, and he would make a great captain. Not sure about someone new coming in and first year being the captain but he definately has the qualities required for a captain.

Good Idea - but don't think it'll happen. Gibbs has said he's a one club man (although his Dad used to chase the $ - which makes me think GC) and the Adelaide heirachy generally like you to earn your stripes.
As a side note Carlton did it with Judd !

The only problem is if we finish 2nd to bottom Richmond will be able to match whatever money offer we throw at Gibbs.

If we finish 2nd to bottom and Richmond have another target in the PSD then we should go hell for leather to get Gibbsy

Has all the attributes to be a great captain. We could have some significant leverage if we remain near the foot of the table and therefore a very high preseason pick. There should be plenty of salary available with the retirements/delistings of some big names.

I have feeling though that he will re-sign with Carlton. I think he is type of person who will give his current team at least another 2 years.

Getting him for nothing in the preseason draft would be sweet vindication for the biased alteration to the Father-Son rule in 2006.

Exactly. Can't really see Gibbs leaving the blues at a price we'd be willing to pay.

Can't imagine it without some pretty hefty sweeteners. Especially given Vince is four years older than Gibbs. Also, we're still in damage control re: discipline after getting rid of the Fev. Hard to see us welcoming more trouble.

I have a bad feeling you guys are gonna go hard for Sam Jacobs, and I wouldn't blame you. There are queries on his pace, but he takes a great contested mark and has by far the best palm of all our ruckmen. His job security isn't great at the Blues either with Warnock and Hampson in the mix.

i think we did target Jacobs last year, but as soon as Carltank heard we were sniffing they gave him a contract. it was either him or Hampson, faith should remember it was her contact that let the info slip i think.
