Thanks jonbe, this is a very good article IMO, quite insightful and highlights Bucks is no fool - quite the reverse actually - a very astute and canny operator.

We're in good hands with people of the quality of Bucks, Eddie, Walsh, Pert, Hine etc etc

Wish people would copy and paste the content of the articles for us who don't pay for them *nudge nudge* *wink wink*
This is a bit off-topic (and I couldn't find the old thread on this topic), but has anyone signed up for the 2 month free trial with Herald Sun and still got full access well after the 2 months finished? Because I do!:):thumbsu:

Yep, I'm the same, signed up for a 2 month freebie, and the same email address and password still gets me through the paywall.:D

Thanks for pasting that :)
Oh and sorry jonbe54 mate didn't mean to derail your thread!

Interesting article, and it is a comfort to know how strong Bucks is as a coach and leader of our club. I cast my mind back to after the rd3 debacle and the media was in a frenzy, and there was Bucks down at the sea baths, and just handled himself with professionalism, grace and strength. I loved seeing that and look forward to Buck's driving the Mighty Magpie Machine forward into the black and white future.

As a bit of a screw you to the HUN.

Ed, the HS may say screw you we'll see you for breach of copyright if you don't post the links both above and below the quote!

And I'm not 100% sure you also can post the entire article so perhaps you should edit your post.

I'm just on my iPhone else I'd have done it for you!

Thanks mate :)

Am I the only one who thinks that Bucks is overstepping the line with Cloke's contract negotiations? IMO the coach's responsibility is to get the best out of his players, not negotiating contracts. Leave that to Geoff Walsh and don't let it distract from the task at hand, winning this years flag.

I've heard that Bucks is more of a control freak than Mick and I think his public comments on Cloke's contract are a reflection of this. I doubt that it's helping the situation as it hasn't a) resulted in Cloke putting pen to paper, or b) improved his form.

Don't know if you're the only one but you certainly seem to buy the balloon juice handed around by Bux haters.

He's the HEAD COACH and Trav's antics are destabilising our season I would be worried if Bux didn't step in and try to move things forward.

It wasn't either Bux or the club that moved the negotiations into the media it was Trav's knob of a father and then Trav himself.

Same here. And when it did run out it just let me sign up again with the same details.

Back on topic, very very impressed with Bucks :thumbsu:

I'm certainly no Bucks hater, I like the job he has done so far and off the top of my head, this would be my only criticism of him. Agreed that it was David Cloke that started the media frenzy, but similar to how he handled the Mick-Eddie feud, I think Bucks would be better making no comment or diffusing the situation.

Personally, I think that like many other sports, the roles of head coach and GM should be clearly separated. The GM/Football Manager or whatever you want to call him should take care of contracts and recruitment. The coach, like the players, should be solely focussed on winning this year and let others deal with distractions.
