Not sure if Monica is the answer...
I think he could be. Not only did we suffer on Satuday by not having a main target at CHF, but I think we also lacked a bit of speed in the midfield. Although we have quality midfielders - Bartel, Ling, Corey - they aren't lightning fast. Byrnes and Tenace add some and I think Monica has developed a bit over the past few weeks in the VFL and will add some spark off Half Back through the midfield - the thing we lacked against the Hawks.

It was obvious against the Hawks at times that we were pretty stagnant at half back bringing the ball out of defence. A Geelong player would have the ball at half back and all the options down the ground would be covered. Wojcinksi likes going for a run and it would be a good way to break things open a bit. But whether or not he would be able to do that in his first game back (if he gets a game) is another thing.

I'm not at all confident about this game, but I am hoping that it'll be a close one and we actually bring the physical presence we had in the first two rounds. Hopefully last round was simply an aberration, albeit a very Geelong-esque aberration!

With all the injuries to talls both teams have suffered it'll be interesting to see how the match ups pan out. We definitely need to bring one of Lonergan or Ablett in, as we absolutely must stretch them as much as possible in the forward line.

How bizarre - going into a match where the difference between the teams could well be Peter Street, such are our woes in the ruck at the moment.

A week ago and the shape of this match is looking very different, such are the problems to the big man stocks of both clubs.

Its going to come down to who wants to win this more, Geelong to bounce back and pip the doggies by the barest of margins

Wow, your over our round 3 disapointing loss pretty quick Geelong_Boy!
I'm still trying to work out what the hell happened yesterday!!!! :(
My thoughts will come later in the week when. I'm still miserable from the loss.

Me and you both. I thought my insane last quarter rant at the game would have got it out of my system, but it's still smouldering. They better put in a much better performance against Footscray.

Main thing to beat Footscray is pressure - what until Saturday we've been doing very well. Just hammer them at every contest and keep on top of them. If they do that, we're a chance. Otherwise not a prayer.

If we can pressure them all day, we can crack their quick game style.

Important day for Ottens and Blake, as well as the midfield...

Cats to do it by 4 goals....

Do the Dogs have any tall forwards? Or are they all under 190cms?

at the moment we have no tall forwards, morgan was filling a role up forward by taking the tall defender and pressuring and creating contests but now he's gone
his replacement is a bit hard, we have a few options, some better than others
we could bring in a tall defender like Wight (very young and inexperienced, but 200cm and could ruck for little bit allowing skip forward) or McGuinness (been on our list for ages yet still hasnt done anything) which can then allow Grant to play forward,( would be so much easier if hargrave was playing:mad: im sure u guys are the same wit scarlett)
option 2 is to promote Tom Davidson (192) from the rookie list and play him forward, i think people have compared him to tarrant, he has a lot of talent but is yet to have an opportunity to show because of his horror run of injuries
or option 3 is to just play a small forward line, play hahn, gia, robbins, johnson, murphy and cooney up there with rotations so gia, hahn and cooney play in the midfield rotating with griff, gilbee, maybe monty and hope that our foot skills are up to par, problem with this is that if geelong put us under a heap of pressure and we arent kicking well then it could fail miserably
i think this should be a really close games, both teams have key injuries and suspensions at either end so it really comes down to the midfield, i think our rucks are a bit better than urs and harris in good form should be able to take either ottens mooney or lonergan, will be an interesting battle between the glove (morris) and kingsley, Geelong are hungry to prove themselves after their shock loss, Bulldogs are hungry to show that they can beat the good teams as well as the bad teams and are a real chance to make an impact in september, should be a ripper but i have to go for the dogs 6 points

The purists might be crying in this game as there won't be too many talls on the ground but it should be an exciting game. The small forward line of the dogs vs. the small defence of the Catters with Mooney shadowing grant and Otto/Blake to combat Street/Skipper.

If Skipper goes into the ruck to help Steet that would be good for us because Skipper booted five against us last time and proved to be a real handfull.

Perhaps it is time to bring in the young blokes who played well in the NAB, Spencer, Primsall and Lonergan and to bring in Monica for a bit more pace. Selection by match comittees will be essential viewing by us armchair tipsters.

Mackie and Dog might find themselves on the outer. Dog copped a real caning on Catsclaw.....

Would have to think Kent is a little doubtful this week with the way he was moving and stretching his hammy during the game.
Go CATS!!

Who can we play forward and back this week who are tall(ish)?
Forward:
Otto
Lonners
Mackie
Kingsley
Mooney
Milburn
Gardiner

Back:
Milburn
Egan( inj)
Milburn
Lonners may be used back if put in side, but doubtful
Spencer (if selected)

Im trying to decide match ups.
I hope Otto plays deeper this week than last week, and Lonners presents well, but i can only hope. If so, would Grant be moved back on him? What if Gran plays forward? A mooney who can run off him, or a heavier Spencer?
hmmm
