Just got to have a look at my work of the new two toned (Red and Yellow) Burley Sekem match balls to be used in WAFL competitions next year. Pretty much the same as before IMO; pointy and crap. As loyal as i am to WA product and i grew up kicking a Burley, i have to say once you kick a KB Sherrin you just dont want to go back...infinitely better to handball, bounce, you name it.
Anyway i believe the WAFL should ditch the Burley and get on the Sherrin train, i know there are heaps of blokes out there who would agree.
Also, are there any other comps besides the WAFL that use Burleys?

So whats your favourite footy to use? Sherrin, Burley, Faulkner????.

Ballarat league have decided to use burleys this year. they are a disgraceful ball to kick. they float to much and half the time they turn into helicopter kicks. much prefer the t.w sherrin.

nothing wrong with the burley's. I love em :D mind you i have never kicked a proper sherrin :(

I'll go the Shezza too. Don't know why the WAFL has insisted going with the Burley for so long. I didn't mind the Burley as kid as I found it easier to kick than a Sherrin - as a genral rule, when you're a kid, the lighter and the "floatier" a ball is, the easier it is to kick. Did take me a while to get used to the Sherrin but it is a better ball.

Anyone remember Chesson balls? They were closer to a Sherrin than the Burley. They used to have junior sized balls too that you could excellent torries with.

You find the Burley is pointy? I've always found them to be more round than the Sherrin. The Faulkners are a bit too pointy though. The Sherrin is the best, good blend of pointyness and roundness. Burley's are good for practicing though, makes it easy to kick a Sherrin.

Burleys are near impossible to kick a torp with though, the ponty Faulkner is the best for that, but they're nothing compared to an NFL ball, that's the easiest torp you can get.

EDFL is now using Burley's instead of Sherrin's. Dunno why, the Sherrin is undoubtedly the best football there is. Burley's, like others have said, are too pointy and floaty. Can't go past the T.W. Sherrin (Someone called it a K.B. Sherrin- pretty sure it's T.W.)

pazza, Ross Faulkner's have always been a decent ball.

The RDJFL use Burley, but we use Sherrin in the VAFA.

Also, I am pretty sure the RDFL do use or have used Burley and also Buffalo footballs.

Sherrin kills in every aspect. Very nice to kick, rounded so they bounce beautifully and handball easily. The AFL only use the best!

what a facinating poll

Hands down the SHERRIN. So much better I love em. I alwyas have a new or near brand new one laying around. Feels so good to kick, handball etc....Unfortunately, the SANFL use a mix of Burley and Sherrin balls (i think?? as i have posters of SANFL players in game shots with both pills). They should just stick with a Sherrin. Mind you, its not as tho i wouldnt touch a Burley, its just that I prefer a sherrin :D

Maybe they're old photos, as I know for sure Burley is the choice of footy in the SANFL, they have a partnership.

Terrible ball.

They are if you can get a decent one. We used them at training and they came in all funny shapes and sizes. I bought a second (the print was faulty) direct from the factory and it was in better shape than most the balls that get sold as good ones.

The T.W. Shez by the length of the Flemington straight.

Sherrin ********s all over a Burley... the Burley seems way too heavy to kick. i think its because its a WA ball its heavier than the Sherrins which were a Vic ball... as in the old days the VFL games used to be played in mud and the ball would get quite heavy... so they made them lighter than the Burleys.

Anyone remember those Kookaburra balls?

Think they were used in WA (?) in the 70's & 80's.
Were used in the old Escort Cup i think.

They almost had a point on them like a gridiron ball!

I had a Kookaburra ball until quite recently. The torps were amazing.

Primary schools used them for years, until Sherrin developed an appropriate ball for the age group I think.
