Was this based on our tremendous showing against the maggies last september or Collingwoods nice run with the tribunal?

more based on last year when you played them at the 'g you were smashin them in the first half and then lost burton and 2 midfielders (im sure it was 2 midfielders) during the 2nd and 3rd quarters and they over ran you purely becuase you only had 1 man on the bench or 2 on then bench and 1 injured on the field.

so yeh and at the moment its the usual collingwood build up and over rate time of the year at the moment

He should come back earlier than the 12 month deadline, even if he's just playing SANFL or whatever. Imagine if we can have him fit and firing in the forward line for the second half of the year?

Should never have been offered another contract.

I would have thought he had earnt another year minimum. At the end of last season there was no way of knowing Hentschel would come up. Also we cant forget Walker is 19 and will probably hit the wall at some stage.

Its a long season and I for one feel pretty good about the fact Burton can be added to boost our forward line later in the season.

Yep you go tell which kid has to be dropped for him that:rolleyes:

If a kid is good enough and has proven himself then he won't be dropped for the sake of it. It will be great if Burton can come back and make an impact as the guy is an absolute gun.

maccasno1 have you turned into loz is porps hot?

Or porps is hot loz even!!! lol :D

C'mon maccas - that is a very silly statement. Let's not put Porps, VB or Rutten back in - we can't upset the kids!!

Porps was the other loss - and a big one at that.
But, you play injured players and you take a risk. I hope we dont play him this year until he is cherry ripe.

What you just posted there is a very silly statement, Burton wont be ready until round 16 at the earliest he is going on 32, Porps, VB and Rutten are key players at the AFC, Burton is not, and if we are too move forward then playing a 32 year old over a developing young forward is what the AFC wants to do then we are in more dire shit than the Torrens River.

Is the AFC moving forward and looking to the future, or is loyality and being nice is what the AFC is about???

Reality would tell you Reilly should have been traded and Burton not offered another contract.

Burton on the list is just another retirement in 2 yrs time, puts further pressure on list development, as I said in the other thread Reilly is soft injury prone and yet people on here are saying 2009 will be his breakout year, yet he has been playing senior football for 6-7 seasons:rolleyes:

Soft in what respect mate?

Soft in that his body is frail and hence always gets injured, or soft in that he won't put his body on the line/attack the ball or man hard? Because if its the second you are dead set wrong, whilst he's no Luke Hodge, he is certainly no Luke Jericho either, has always been one to put his body on the line, despite his relatively frail build (although he appears to have bulked up a fair bit recently)

lost Burton and Porpz; our 2 leading goal kickers that year... and with the depleted bench that would tend to turn the odds the other way. i'd think the round 1 match would start off as 50/50. Porpz might not be rushed back and Burton is still out, we'd be relying on our younger forwards + Hentschel returning from longterm injury.

Firstly Burton is and has been a key forward for us for the past few years. I'm talking about the 30 year old Burton who turns 31 in May so we may be talking about different players. :)

Mind you, you have never been a Burton fan - I remember clearly you always used to say he reminded you of a wild donkey!! :D

Lighten up maccas and give the club some credit for knowing what they're doing and will do. After all they aren't the Adelaide Airport so there must be something in your opinion that they do well. :p

I think he'd be good fun to have a beer with, maccas. He certainly wouldn't be slagging the club all the time. :)

As for the immaturity comment, which part do you refer to as the first 2 paragraphs are actual fact and the 3rd is a friendly piece of advice??

It wouldn't be the reference to your slagging of the Adelaide Airport (actual fact again), would it?? :)

The immaturity came from the fact you ignored everything I posted and rather went on a personal attack, I thought you were above all that rubbish, tell me the last time I mentioned the Adelaide Airport:confused:

If slagging the club is being honest about the decsions that are being made, then so be it, I anit going to 'sugar coat' everything to please and 'internet forum'

We could still get another few good years out of Burton i believe. By the time he goes some of the younger guys should be ready to step up by then
