I hate it that whenever something bad happens in this country, they make a point of saying how it has made news all over the world, especially the U.S.
Seriously, who gives a shit.

Now that's one that gets me.Do you think the people of Kinglake,Flowerdale,Marysville....etc,who've lost houses or loved ones,give a fat rats they've made the news in the U.S ?

It's just the media [the Hun especially] patting themselves on the back because it's a lot of their stories and footage being seen in the U.S.

Pretty sure these are classed as disease epidemics, not "natural disasters" as suck. Geez, AIDS has killed more people than this, would you class that as a natural disaster as well?

One thing that annoys me is the fact that the on screen journo's are wearing yellow overalls despite the fact they're probably in declared safe areas. All commercial networks and ABC are guilty of this. Not sure if SBS has done it yet...

What was truely disgusting was that Channel 9 reporter (Daniel Street) had rubbed ash and charcoal all over his overalls to make him look more embedded and 'caught up' in the disaster. Prob the producers decision, but still terrible form.

I also felt like throwing up at Channel 9's reuniting of a husband and wife that were separated and evacuated to separate centres. Great that they reunited them, but they milked it dry - taking up about 10minutes of a normal 30min bulletin. Surrounding each with multiple cameras, pushing them to be more emotional, telling them what to do to look more dramatic. I can't imagine what they told the poor souls to do while the cameras weren't rolling.

I didn't know it was Daniel Street, but apparently they were about to do the cross when the producer decided his yellow channel 9 overalls were too clean, so they made him rub some dirt and ash into the overalls.

Despicable.

Now that's one reporter who I can't work out why he's there.Isn't he a political reporter on ch9 ?

I was channel surfing at 6pm and ch7 seems to have a few female reporters I've never seen before.Not sure if they're interstaters or been bought in to beautify ch7s news.

Now that's one reporter who I can't work out why he's there.

I think these media types don't really get it. The last thing these people need is "Mel and Kochie" and Stefanovic5000 running around Whittlesea unchecked. Have these people not suffered enough?

This is a terrible tragedy and there is a need for the story to be told, but we don't need to fly down these abovementioned flogs from Sydney just so they can say in 6 months "When Victoria burned, we were there." They are not the story, they are insignificant in the grand scheme of things and it does not add any value at all to the story that they are trying to tell.
