Our first KPF list management move needs to be to get Dixon. Our second KPF list management move needs to be to retain Schulz. Our third KPF list management move needs to be to retain Shaw.

If we fail at any if these steps, and I'd think that chances are that we'll fail at at least one of them, then I'd keep Butch on a one year contract, and I'd keep him on the senior list too.

If we can find a way to get Dixon and retain Schulz and Shaw, then as much as I hate to say it I'm not sure there's a place for him. List spots on an AFL list are at a premium.
Let's keep em' all, Freo can have Bruggerman :drunk:

"Epic mouth positions"

I've been searching for the words to describe his expressions for yonks. Thanks PB.
He cracks me up every time the ball comes near him. It shows that he's trying his guts out.

Yeah, injured constantly and has played maybe 3 good games.

If people think he's the future, yet write off Butch I get very confused

Well then, there is one thing we can all agree on with Butcher. He does some pretty ****ing cool facial expressions.

Can I just ask, in the three years Shaw has been here, what's he done exactly to deserve a spot over Butch?

His second half of 2014 was a better and more consistent stretch of football than anything Butcher has produced since 2012. This year has been an injury writeoff for him and it's unfair to judge him on it.

Butcher is a harder worker and better in a contest, but Shaw has a much better footy brain as a forward along with significantly better skills. We all love Butch, I stood up and gave a standing ovation when he kicked his goal today, but the reality is that when Shaw gets a decent opportunity to kick a goal you can usually rely on him to kick it, but you can't rely on Butcher to do the same. That counts for a lot.

Chances are we get 3.0 or 2.1 if Shaw was taking the shots that Butcher took today. Butch gave us one goal (which to his credit was the most important one) and two shots from inside 50 that failed to make the distance. But he did also set up a goal for Robbie Gray by crashing a pack, and that sort of thing is the main advantage that he has over Mason. Mason doesn't crash packs like Butch does. Not yet anyway.

There's nothing I would love more from this year than for the switch in Butch's head to flick and for him to get back to the confident, happy, goalkicking bundle of energy that he was in 2011-2012, and I hope that he's kept in the team until the end of the year and given every chance to do that, but the further we get from 2011-2012 the more my hope is fading. I think at this point that there's more chance of Shaw getting his body right than there is of Butcher getting the mental demons in his head sorted out.

Hope he gets to keep his spot in the side even if Schulz and Westhoff are available next week.

This thread is bringing tears to my eyes! The passion for one bloke is truly brilliant! I hope he gets a few extra chances to prove himself!

Shaw way way unproven even at SANFL level, you'd have to put Mitch Harvey before Mason? Charlie Dixon could be pie in the sky, who knows who are spreading these rumours. But let's gun for him. Agree with Sarge, need to keep him. He is Port Adelaide. But to me the champ looks tired and jaded, needs someone to take his mantle. Respect your posts Schulzenfest. But here's my prioritys.

Get Dixon, could be pie on the sky his manager is upping his value. Ok, how good is he anyway?

Keep Sarge, and develop Butch and Harvey around him. Keep putting games into Butch, he's shown way more at this stage than both Harvey and Shaw.

Other than that it's Paddy up forward or we have shit all else.

I spoke to the Butch tonight, I can tell you as happy as some of us we're that he played today - no one was happier than John. He was genuinely feeling like he would never play with his mates again.
I have no doubt he would love to stay here, and would take any contract we can give him to prove himself to us all.

How's he going with his speech? Didn't he bite a chunk of his tongue off a few months back?

Shaw has done bugga all more than butcher, and butcher seems like a genuinely nice guy. But I still just can't see him retaining a spot on the snr list. Maybe a rookie relist, I'd like to see that. But his kick is just something that ain't getting better, no matter how it's sugar coated

Yessssss, thats coming from our Froddo, who happened to listen to Ken live. Lets not give Butch a ten year contract, lets just play him and keep on playing him. I'm quite sure he doesn't want to piss off to Hawthorn on a 20 million deal. Get my drift.

In a Maggie's match it was reported that he bit off a third of his tongue. I'm guessing is was reattached?

Please someone tell me I didn't dream it... I don't wanna be dreaming about footballers
Like a Stephen King nightmare Butch's missing 3rd of a tongue is gonna hunt you in your slumber

Your defense and credibility has just gone way down now. Sucks to be you.

I'm sick to death of people saying Tredrea was a bad shot for goal. It simply WAS NOT TRUE.
I'll grant you, he shanked the occasional set shot from 30 and had a awkward looking, un-natural action - but overall he was a reasonable shot for goal...

It use to annoy me when I came on this board and all the armchair experts were calling from him to be moved to CHB.
"Move him to CHB and put Chad Cornes to CHF" was the main call...

Now, lets put some facts into this argument...
Over his career, Tredrea kicked 549.362, which equates to 60.2%. Only once - in 2002 - did he score more behinds that goals (32.35)

Now for a couple some comparisons...
The best CHF I've seen is Wayne Carey. I would've thought most people would say he's a reasonable kick for goal.
Known for kicking the pressure goal - the captains goal. Anyone want to have a guess what his goal kicking percentage was?

61.2% (727.457) - not a hell of a lot better, be the perception is he was a lot better....

Other CHF's...
Jonathan Brown - 64.6% (594.325)
Nick Riewoldt - 60.77% (646.417)
Chris Grant - 59.7% (554.374)
Nick Holland - 60.3% (239.157)
Matthew Richardson - 59.2% (800.551)

Against FF's
Jay Schulz. Sharp-shooter. Never misses. Well, he's kicking at 66.9% over his career (316.156)
The greatest goalkicker of all time, Tony Lockett finished with 70.13% (1125.479)

Was he god's gift to goal kicking - no...
But he wasn't as bad as what you guys are saying either - no where near it...

And to even mention Butcher in the same sentence it just disrespectful...

"Oh, what about Chad Cornes? " I hear you ask...
Well, he kicked 179.165 for a percentage of 52.03%

'A third' might be a bit hyperbolic but yeah that did happen. I think he only had 3 or 4 touches that day and everyone was all 'spud, delist', but if I'd bitten off a chunk of my tongue I'd probably have gone into the rooms and had a cry rather than playing on, so credit to him just for staying on even if he didn't do much.

Those people might include yourself Kern.

Thought he was really important today. Gave us a focal point, worked hard, kicked a goal. Can't remember him being clean beaten by a defender all day. He did well enough to get himself three shots at goal and was molested at least once without getting a free. If he slots a second he's had a good game in any forward's language.

It's pretty clear that he's the second best KPF option we've got behind Schulz who is 30 and weighing up his options. After today, I'm firmly in the one year deal camp.

I know I know: "Enough with the GIFs".
But I had to do make these two. :D
