Why is he even up for debate, you can't have a forward that can't kick. It brings the team down, stops momentum and just isn't accepted at AFL standard. There should be no discussion on him anymore, he had his chance and he has not improved enough with his kicking.
Pretty sure he holds the record for most consecutive goals for us at AFL level or something.
Give him a run, what do we have to lose at this point?
More like we have nothing to lose so why not play a guy who hasn't been able to string together more than 4 games together at a time due to injury or form (oft very harsh) to see if he does have a future at our club instead of just letting him rot in the Magpies before delisted him or moving him on for pick 65.We have nothing to lose so why play a player that is clearly not the future of the football club.

You've convinced meJohn Butcher to return to the side and kick 4 goals against Sydney, reviving the entire team and kick starting a season for the ages in which Port Adelaide goes undefeated with "The Present" kicking 3 goals every week all the way through to the grand final.
Its Port Adelaide against Fremantle, in a brutal, stoppage filled, low scoring game.
With 1 minute to go in the final quarter Fremantle have just got up by 5 points. An absolute miracle goal by Nat Fyfe who is the leading possession winner on the ground with 60 disposals along with all 7 of Fremantle's goals. The centre bounce is a brilliant one by umpire Nicholls, Aaron Sandilands leaps high above Patrick Ryder and wins the ruck tap, but Brendon Ah Chee (who was finally brought on as the sub for this stoppage) swoops in front of "The Knife" and smashes out a monster 40 metre handball to Jarred Polec who is 20 metres in the clear on the wing. Jarred is running in, there are no free options as all 21 of Fremantle's players are already in the forward 50, but Butcher makes the signal.
Polec smashes the ball forward to the top of the square, John Butcher leaps off of Jake Neade, and onto Matthew Lobbe's shoulders. At 4 metres tall Butcher marks the ball and falls to the ground in a heap. He looks hurt, but slowly he manages to get up revealing that Jay Schulz dove under him to save him from the fall. John begins to walk back with the ball. 10 metres out directly in front, might as well call it now says Dennis Cometti. John Butcher runs in, throws the ball up in the air turns and bicycle kicks the ball through the goals, his signature set shot. The Port Adelaide faithful go wild, its a goal to John Butcher and the Power have secured their second AFL premiership.
I believe.
Just finished booking my flights and accomodation for the GF.
If he can't kick a bag in the SANFL when he plays up forward...
The SANFL is a difficult league to kick bags because of the poor kicking and team defence. We've been through this.If he can't kick a bag in the SANFL when he plays up forward...
