I need to buy a new laptop. I need a high performance laptop, but it's too expensive full RRP. Is it worth buying this laptop refurbished?
Aspire V5-571G Core i5 Windows 8 Performance Model - (Refurbished)

Or am I better off buying a laptop that isn't refurbished. Does anyone know if there is a major difference with refurbished and new laptops?

Just buy a normal laptop. Then look at the parts you will need. Refurbished means that it's really old parts that can't be replaced.

Shop around for prices between shop bought laptops and tailor made laptops made by the brand that you want to use. Getting refurbished ones might cost you more than anything because you don't know if it has faults with it.
Good luck.

Refurbished should mean the faults are fixed i would have though sonofSooz??

So just Office etc? No need for a ' high performance' desktop model then. Get one that's light, quiet and doesn't get hot.

Have to agree with Acer.

Our first PC (late 1990's) was an Acer and it was an unreliable piece of junk.

My last Windows laptop before I moved to Mac was an Acer. The computer would always crash, and the hard drive failed twice within the first 12 months. Was a nightmare of a machine.

Never buy Acer.

What CPU, GPU, HDD, RAM does it have and how big is the screen?
I honestly couldn't tell you. I'm not in to that fancy schmancy book learning

I remember the RRP was about $800-$900 from memory from Harvey Norman. I have the model number somewhere tucked away with the invoice just in case it broke down but I can't remember it off by heart

never used them. however with my experience selling them they werent so bad and this was only 3 years ago.

theyre under ibm so you would think theyd be ok

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad R500 that I brought last year (6 years old now) and I'll never buy anything else than a Thinkpad in future.

They are the Nokia of laptops, only ever comfortable when they are taking a beating.
