Junction yes.
Central maybe.
Gillon not a chance.

The Frearson at Monash would be in the top few.
Old Carey and Old Trinity at Bulleen would top all of them except Junction, where it would be a very close race

Word is Fitzroy's senior coach is Tim Bell who has been our U19 coach for about the last 7 or so years.

and therefore beat scribe who was also an applicant!

I guess so. Fraser posted a few days earlier that he's now senior assistant coach at Old Camberwell - and I think he will be missed at BSO for sure. Tim already has an assistant coach as part of the team in Michael Pickering (ex-Richmond VFL, who coached a lot of us at U17 level at Fitzroy juniors).

What's your point?

What's the inside word on the grounds for Premier C in 2011?

I've seen Monash (pretty good I thought), obviously Soldiers Reserve, Brunswick Street and Rupo in past years, but the other 6 clubs' facilities will be new to me.

I like the sound of the Old Essendon set-up near the airport, and remember going out to Mazenod's ground a couple of years back to watch a semi-final. Ground was huge and a great atmosphere (was it an ex-VFA ground?).

Anyhow, would welcome anyone's comments on the decks our kids will be playing on next year.

Sorry, I didn't realise I needed a point.

Whilst he posted he was at OC I don't recall him saying he went for the Fitzroy job.

I thought it might of interest to some readers who know him so well via this medium that he was overlooked for the job after serving the club so well as a player, coach and promoter.

Just scanning the boards on a very un spring-like day and noticed this post. I too am astounded that Frase didn't land the job at Fitzroy, how could a person of his stature in the VAFA who is a club legend not get the gig over someone who has never coached at senior level before? My mail is he wasn't even second choice, can any of you Fitzroy people elaborate?
I look forward to his contribution at Camberwell this year, we are sure to have a few beers in the aftermatches.

I don't know enough about the selection process to comment. Still I certainly wouldn't do it on a public forum of I did. All I know is Tim has coached the vast majority of our current senior list to success at under age level, for 8 years straight. Pretty much everyone at the club has good things to say about him, and we are confident of an improved 2011.

If you want more than that, best you speak to the coaching selection panel. Our president, secretary and a fella from the Reds foundation made the call, and no one handed out silver or bronze medals as far as I am aware. That's all I know.

I think a number of us share your astonishment that Scribe was overlooked for the senior coaching gig the club he has served with such distinction and had to take the consolation prize at OC.
