Re: Caleb Tiller

Caleb Tiller - (OM) 6 February 1991, 187cm 77kg. VicC/Murry Bushrangers/Thornton

"ant555: Caleb Tiller – 187cm, 77kg – Murray Bushrangers.
Tallish skinny half forward/half back/winger. Has ok pace and knows where to run to receive the footy. Takes a few marks in space but will also get in and find his own ball if he has to. Kicking has a bit to improve on. He can miss targets or kick to contests. Has had a few good games where he has kicked multiple goals. His defence has been pretty good when used on the half back line and he likes to run.
Bottom aged player who has had a good season. Chance later on in the draft."

"Supect1: Caleb tiller wasnt given much game time to prove himself . The short time he got i thought he did very well . in the u16's carnival in qld he didnt play much at all . In the metro game he came on and kicked a nice goal at a very handy time in the game . He's got really good skills and a good head on his shoulders. They percieve him as a bit soft but i think you will find he just lacks a bit of confidence in himself . As soon as he gets a bit of arrogance and confidence you will see the real player come out . If he is given a good run and strings a few games together he will be terriffic."

"TheBigUnit: Caleb Tiller - Bottom aged, rangy utility type - fair bit of upside physically - his clean hands and evasive skills really impressed me. Could develop into a very handy bench type player."

Re: Caleb Tiller

Looms as a perfect development project for our new program.

Hopefully he can learn a fair bit from Teaguey and Harvs over the next few years and really come on in both a footballing sense and also with regards to body shape.

He's now 189cm tall so at the moment he's at that height that is in between the ideal. He should have a few more cm growth left in him so if he can get to the 191-192cm mark at least, that would be great for us.

If he gets to that then I could see him being used as a KPP a few years down the track. Otherwise, might just be a versatile flanker that can play both back and forward with some stints through the middle of the ground.

His marking ability impresses me, as does his hands below his knees for a tallish bloke. His disposal is above average, his goalkicking very good. The only thing with his disposal is that he seems to 'loop' a lot of his field kicks - possibly just a minor flaw in his technique, or possibly a result of trying to kick it that little bit too hard. I'm sure that under the teaching of a few ex-champions of the game, this will be sorted out pretty quickly.

I'm quite excited about Caleb but we must be patient with him. Seeing him in the senior side next year would not be ideal as it would mean we have a horrendous injury list. Don't expect to see him in 2009, and probably the majority of 2010 on top of that. I expect him to start making an impact in 2011 and beyond. Well and truly a long term prospect.

This kid looks good - heres hoping he grows a few more cms

Is it just me, or does this bloke remind anyone a bit of Justin Westhoff??

Won't have the same first year impact as Westhoff but here's hoping he'll be playing good footy for the entirety of his carreer, and not just be a one hit wonder. Does look like the likely type and it'll be interesting to see how fast the club can fasttrack his development thaks to the development academy headed by Harris and Harves.

Re: Caleb Tiller

I'm not one to sugar coat it. He looks like a 17 year old late pick. He's not KPP height, doesn't have super speed (he doesn't look slow however), or devastating 50m bullet passes off halfback. But lets face it, if he had all those tools he'd have been picked up in the top 10.

That said he's clearly a kid with his head screwed on straight, he's going to put his all into becoming an AFL player and do all he can to get there and if he does make it I think he has the right attitude and intelligence to be a leader at our club. But that's looking far into the future.

He also knows how to create room, and where to run to put himself into a position to get the ball. Down the track he could become a handy linkman/tagger in our midfield.

Re: Caleb Tiller

Tiller will be a HFF/HBF because he lacks a bit of pace.
Fool!

This poster claims Tiller is quick.
was 3rd quickest in the squad over 20m distance. considering hes a tall bloke found that quite exceptional, however didnt see him play on the weekend so you may have a valid point.

Re: 35. Caleb Tiller

I havnt seen him play at all but looking at the bullant reserve statistics, in the six games that they say he has played, he has been in the best once and hasnt kicked any goals. Although has played 2 games for the seniors and has kicked 2 goals.

Re: 35. Caleb Tiller

Will be interesting to see how he develops over the pre-season. He'd aim to get a regular spot in the Ants seniors next year. If he can't do that it might be a short stint with the club IMO.

Re: 35. Caleb Tiller

I'm his buddy this year, hoping he has a big year at the ants and maybe break into the 22 later in the season but lets just hope he can grow into his body and gain some confidence. got all the tools and looks well rounded (Ala B. gibbbs)

Re: 35. Caleb Tiller

Yes, make him your DT captain. Here's what RiverRodent had to say about his game on the weekend.

Tiller is starting to show why he was drafted last year - clean marking, strong running, much better kicking and a much bigger body - what a difference 12 months makes - next year he might have some chance of senior selection but at least now looks like he will be able to cement a VFL place.
