Delisted Callum Ah Chee - Joins Adelaide via the PSD

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

For context, Alex Neal-Bullen was under contract and traded for pick 28.

Ah Chee is out of contract and we offered a future second and a future third.

So an equivalent, if not better offer, for a similar player in terms of age, ability and experience, who was out of contract.
ah chee is a better play than Neal bullen and a year younger

he also got a 4 year deal ah chee is 5

oh wait! thats right thats what people have been posting in here, none of them have said what ah chee pick value is

Jack Steele was traded for a future third.
Alex Neal-Bullen was traded for pick 28.
Caleb Daniel was traded for pick 25.
Matt Kennedy was traded for pick 38.
James Harmes was traded for a future third.
Taylor Adams was traded for pick 33.

Seems like Adelaide’s offer of a future second AND a future third was well and truly in the ballpark of what is fair.

Kennedy was not taken for 38 it was a complex 3 way trade
Harmes is rubbish
Adams rubbish and basically finished
Steele they booted him out

Neal-bullen and daniel 25 and 28 are around the mark

That’s actually not a good deal, his price I highly doubt is going to go up, he should of taken maximum money and maximum length contract, I have no idea why he chose to sign for just 2 years

The rumoured offers from Adelaide and Port were around the $1.5m per year mark. As long as he doesn’t get injured he’ll most likely have the exact same offers in front of him in 2 years time, but he’ll have earnt $2m a year prior to that.

Reportedly, he was likely to leave, until the Saints offered that deal at the last minute. So he’s effectively earnt himself around about an extra $1m, and will once again have his pick of clubs and offers in 2 years time. Seems a great deal to me.

and what if he does get injured? its a horrible deal his price wont ever be higher, I highly doubt it

he could of stayed long term at the saints for that money and then still left and someone would pick up the tab no doubt or near enough to it

It was a complex trade, but in that trade, the Blues gave up Kennedy, and received pick 38. Which means they accepted pick 38 to let him go.

Steele had to leave because the Saints could no longer afford his contract, which is actually not that different to Ah Chee’s situation.

ANB is probably the most like for like comparison to Ah Chee. He was under contract which increases his value.

I can go further back if you want and it will continue to show that the offer was pretty fair. Brisbane just tried to squeeze a bit more, which is completely fair, Adelaide just didn’t budge.

as could I, Caleb Daniel for 25 hes a potato in comparison to ah chee

In my opinion none of them are of the quality of ah chee, I agree Neal bullen similar but he has not had the performances ah chee has had

I doubt that the Saints could have afforded to give him that money for 7+ years.

Caleb Daniel is an All Australian. Ah Chee has never gotten near that level.

I’ll give you some more:

Acres was worth a future third round pick.
Lachie Hunter a future third round pick.
Finlayson a future third.
Aliir was a future second.
Hugh Greenwood a future third and future fourth.
Josh Bruce pick 32 and 51.

It was a more than fair deal.

Its ah Chee's managers job to ensure that his client gets to where he wants OF COURSE he is going to say everything he did

If Paul Connors was ah Chee's manager I bet the deal gets done, Ben Williams has 0 leverage

Such a weird take.

Williams negotiated a better deal for Ah Chee, which he accepted. He let both clubs know at the earliest opportunity allowing them ample time to make a deal.

He can’t force Brisbane to accept Adelaide’s offer and he can’t force Adelaide to increase theirs. What he can do is ask Ah Chee if he’s willing to go via the PSD. Maybe if Ah Chee had said no, Adelaide would increase their offer, or maybe Ah Chee would have preferred to go back to Brisbane on less money. Obviously Ah Chee decided he was happy to go through the draft, and left the ball in Brisbane’s court.

Brisbane decided that sending a message to the rest of the competition was more important than the picks they were being offered, and here we are.

Williams’ job is now to engineer things to make sure Ah Chee ends up at Adelaide, or to potentially leverage a better offer from another club if that’s what he wants to do.

Provided he does that, he’s done precisely what a manager is supposed to do. I’m not sure why you would think a manager has the power to make a club do something they don’t want to do.

If you don’t think certain player managers have enormous power and leverage I don’t think you understand how it works, Williams has a small stable and I agree he can’t make Brisbane do something, what I said is another manager with more power would ensure that the 2 clubs got it done

A mix of potatoes and players that were literally pushed out by their clubs.

You guys are being obtuse on purpose to avoid addressing my point.

Acres averaged 20+ disposals on a wing 3 years either side of his trade.

Hunter was a valuable role player in a premiership and GF side (sound like someone else?)

Aliir is an AA defender.

Finlayson was nearly a goal and a half a game player who also played ruck.

Hugh Greenwood was not pushed out, he left on a pretty decent contract and was one of the Suns better midfielders initially.

Josh Bruce won the Dogs leading goal kicker the year they made the GF.

I don’t think you guys are discussing this in good faith if you’re dismissing them as potatoes.

Adelaide

They're saying Adelaide don't operate in points because we ever use points to draft anyone because we never have the chance
The points system isn’t just about academies and father sons, it’s a way of valuing what a pick is worth and then used to determine the value of a player trade ie

If player is valued at pick 20 but said club doesn’t have the pick, the points system determines what should happen, if you go back through trades from years ago clubs would just have to accept whatever the club has, this is not the case anymore

Did you see what North did to their 1st rounder this year??? Just because they are nuts like what West Coast did the year they also recruited Baker and GCS throwing 1st rounder like confetti for Rioli, doesn't mean every club is nuts.

So you'd accept the points equivalent of pick 5 in 2nd round picks as the same value?

You are creating random scenarios for the sake of arguing
What? Pick 23,24 and 25 don't mean anything close to pick 5 for a team that never uses points.

You also keep saying with updated points system pick 40 is 230 or something points. But with the updated system it looks like the picks teams will have to use to get their bids done will also have to be higher picks.

If someone bids at pick 2 making up 2400 points will require atleast an early 2nd unless you have all of the 3rd round picks..
