Player Watch Callum Brown (Delisted 2022)

At this stage he’s going well but will need to build on his involvement.

Tough guy. Doesn’t shirk anything.

At this stage he’s like an upgraded Blair.

But scope to surpass that.

The challenge will be to build his game so it’s compelling that he always plays.

Looks a likely time longer term. Great attitude.

I am not sure he is an upgrade on the wee man just yet. Blair didn’t play 150+ games by chance. Despite his limitations he brought intensity to every contest he entered.

Brown should go past Blair no doubt, but the wee man at his best performed at a higher level than Brown is now at this early stage of his career.

I thought he was good at the start of last yr.. after the Adelaide game where Stephenson announced himself to the world as a great re.. did say Brown would play most games for the yr but ended up playing almost all of the remaining part of the season in the vfl.. tora to skeftikan re.. knew this bloke would make it.. God I love myself.. sorry re.

Didn't Thomas take Adams' place last night?

Thomas has always had midfield rotations but neither he nor Brown started in the midfield at any bounce last night.

I liked his second half last night.
He’s really using his low centre of gravity to create time and space for himself and he used the ball much better.

I’m just looking for signs to say he is improving and can be a player and last night he showed some signs.

I’m pretty sure I saw him in there at least once.

I'm relying on Billy Bob65's post (#250) in the post Mortimer thread so won't argue with you.

I didn't notice it occurring, but based on those stats, it looks like Sidebottom replaced Adams on the inside and WHE moved to Sidebottoms wing.

Hyphen definitely was on the wing at some point for centre ball up play.
Right opposite to my sitting position.

Brown is currently ranked number 1 at Collingwood for forward half pressure points per game.
I was just saying in another thread his official AFL ratings are higher than I would have thought.

Another game, more growth. Keep him in the side please!

I'm pretty confident that he is safe for next week at least. He was excellent both with and without the ball against Port.

Those side steps and quickfire handballs becoming a trait of his.

So many contested balls where there is multiple players around it and he gets in and gets it out

Junior coaches must hate him. He just doesn't need to bodyline the ball, becasue he is so clean even when collecting with one hand. The amount of times he just controls it with one hand and by not bodylining it, he's given himself that one step he needs to dispose of it effectively. Incredible skill, but kids, don't try this yourself.

The poor man's Sam Mitchell has been mentioned before.
The little steps, the sidestep and the bullet left foot pass.
Long may the improvement continue.

He has been doing this since his junior days. It was only ever a case of if we saw his best at the highest level. He is building very nicely. Comparisons to Blair need to take into account that Blair had physically matured/peaked when he lined up for us. Callum has more upside.

Highest supercoach score on the ground early in the last quarter, just has to nail those goals now.

Ask and yea shall receive! gooooooaaaaalllllllll

Imagine if he could kick!
I bitched about that for years with Tony Shaw and then he won a Norm Smith and held up the cup, but yeah Callum needs to work on it if he wants to go elite.
