Callum Sinclair

I agree, a punt on him makes more sense than Hale. Good size, rates himself as a forward but understands the need to back up ruck, and apparently a reliable shot at goal.

I think he played pies VFL in 2009, and the pies VFL to Melbourne AFL path worked pretty well with Jurrah.

Take please. Big bodied, mobile and he'd be good support for Watts. Not saying we shouldn't take Darling at 12 though just because we're taking a KPF in the second round.

Doesnt look that bad. I like a tall player that can kick. As long as he doesnt turn in to a Paul Johnson and kick more than he should handball..

he has a twitter so he has that going for him

Edited:
no you got this off twitter

"I aspire to be a power forward and play like Justin Koschitzke"
Please don't knock out our captain if you come to Melbourne. Would rather Luke Mitchell with our 2nd pick if available, but sounds OK.

Hi guys

Have watched a fair bit of VFL footy and Sinclair is one of my favorites.

Sinclair is a 21 year old 200+ cm CHF/FF who is able to pinch hit in the ruck.

His contested marking is a feature of his game as is his body work in pack situations. He reads the game well for someone so young, and gets in dangerous situations.

He is a very good set shot for goal and kicked a serviceable 34 goals at just over 2 goals a game.

I would hope that he get's a game and would be a very good pick up for anyone (be that you or someone else), however; I am not entirely sure he will be a walk up start in round 1 2011.

Yes he is a good prospect but is he physically ready to take the bash and crash of a senior AFL key position role in 2011? I am not completely sold but feel he may come on a lot quicker that I expect.

A couple of other KPF also in the VFL are:

Adrian Bonnadio and Dean Galea also from Port Melbourne and also former Hawk, Mitch Thorp had a really good year for Werribee kicking 23 goals in 16 games.

Am I able to help out with any other VFL players? Feel free to ask away.

Definitely a late bloomer. Was playing more 2nd XVIII football in year 12 than 1sts. Must have shot up a bucketload too as I never remember him being 2 metres tall.

Where did he go to school Caulfield? Bit of a worry if you are 200cm in year 12 and not able to play APS first footy. Think you'd get a run in the ruck each week even if you didn't get a kick.

Yeah mate Caulfield. I swear he wasn't 200cm then though and no where near 100kg. I didn't watch many APS games but he was reportedly "soft as butter".

Caulfield were an ELITE team in 2007 though, with many players drafted. So if he was uncoordinated then he wouldn't make the grade, from what i've heard though he had worked his ass off to get skill in order to complement his height. That was over three years ago as well.

They did win the APS but that hardly makes them elite. I can count Zeibell, Sandilands (never got a game for Box Hill 1s when at Hawthorn), Taylor Gilchrist (Sydney rookie?) and Astbury as the only draftees who played in that team.

Nothing wrong with a late maturer though.

I'd be worried if he were drafted interstate though. He cried his way home from year 9 camp (one month long in China) after a week.

Not to worry. Wattsy will stick up for him!

What imposing forward line of Watts Sinclare and Jurrah would be. Col would have to play forward just to dumb it up.

I wouldn't consider Sinclair imposing.... Watts is barely imposing now. The only thing imposing about him is the knowledge that someday he WILL be imposing. Sinclair wouldn't have that, even though he could turn out to be alright.

Jurrah on the other hand...wow...

Yaman tore me a new one that year and he subsequently played VFL 1's. Same with Sundberg and Risol. Jonno Nash was also handy as was Clay Johnston, so it would've been a very hard unit to crack. But having said that, I wouldn't want to part with anything earlier than our 3rd rounder.

He was also in the top 10 at the draft combine for the kicking test.

I would MUCH rather take a punt on this kid in the second round than waste it on Hale.

FWIW i thought we were thinking of him in the third?

Looks like right Dawk, definately 3rd rounder with a hat like that.

* Sounds more like Justin Maddern than Kernahan, not sure I'd want to be like either.

I had a look through the afl website and the only supporters that hail from victoria that follow melbourne are "Andrew Gaff" and "Dion Prestia" and "Someone else that I can't think of his name" So recruiting all of those should be the top of our priority rather than a jumper because of a failed merger.
