Hi guys

Does anyone know if Cam has been promoted, or will be promoted, to the main list for next year? Good foot skills.

No news as yet, but I think he could be kept as an elevated rookie until Newman comes back around R8, so may not be a need to make that decision. Yeah, looks OK, not sure of pace and a bit 1-sided, but I'd see him as more a depth player

Thanks mate. I guess we have been burnt before with elevating a few rookies a bit too early. Ramsay, Plapp, Haynes and Vardy weren't really show stoppers.;)

If we promote him, it means one less pick in the national draft, but one more in the rookie draft. The difference between the players available at out 5th or 6th pick in the national draft and our 3rd pick in the rookie draft probably isn't much so it would seem to make sense to promote.

Yeah, he seemed to be getting a lot of the ball in the last few games. I try not to get excited too early these days.

Does anyone know the real reason for Marty McGrath getting the flick? (old news I know):D

Marty McGrath smoked in excess of a packet of **** a day and barely broke out of a trot at training and that's just when he rocked up to training in the first place. There are a few other things too...

This guy is going to be a guN!!! just check his stats out for the last part of the year

i can't wait till he developes i think he will become one of the AFL's elite players in the future (barring injury) that for sure.

Wart I'm not sure if your being stupid on purpose or just plain stupid.

Check the date of the article. Thats clearly an elevation for this year.

It would be stupid to not promote him. Didnt either lovett-murray or lovett not get promoted at the start of one year, then came in for hird and ripped it, but was forced back onto the rookie list? Imagine if that happened here, if he was averaging 20 odd possies per game and then we'd have to demote him back to the rookie list midseason if newman came back. Who cares if we get an extra spot for a 5th rounder, we have a guy whos as good as at least your average 3rd rounder right now!

Very overrated on this board. Reminds me of Daniel Jackson a couple year back.

+
* good kicking skills
* decent bit of pace
* found the ball at AFL level pretty well

-
* very small; both hight and lack of beef
* not young, already 22ish

Disagree. From what I saw, he looked very composed on both sides.

I loved the way Cam gave his best and showed what he has got, and hopefully he stays on the senior list and goes on to be a great Tiger.

But to say he looks composed on both sides is a bit over the top isn't it. He never got a kick with his right foot and a couple of times looked very one sided when the pressure came on from the left.

I'm sure he is working hard on his right side so 2007 will show us what he has really got.

Too harsh mate. He's only played five games! The stats look pretty good for a guy who has played five games. He should be given a go. Don't forget he wouldn't have played many minutes in amongst that. He's only been at an AFL club for one pre-season so the weight will come in a year or two.....you've got me on the height but that's not super important for a pacey wingman.:p

Word is he will be staying on the Rookie List, I would love for him to go onto the Senior list but I would think with a fully fit side he might be just outside the best 22.

5 games is plenty to judge is he is small, weak, and already in his mid 20's.

The games he played in (more so the wins) were towards the end of the season against crap sides when we were already out of the finals race - I wouldn't read too much into those stats.

Height is important for wingman these days and more so has football evolves. Think Goodes, Embley, Mattner types - the kind of postion JON will be groomed for (wing/HBF).

Decent player but shouldn't go on the senior list. Needs another big year in the 2's and push for senior selection.

:) NOT up against a lot...but likely has the best skills of any player on our list.

Sit back and consider that carefully....we are a long way from being the most skilled side in the competition. Few you can rely on week in, week out!

We need more players like Cam Howatt and Nathan Foley, because these are the boys who have been on the rookie list and have had their backs against the wall (both small midfielders) but have worked hard to get a place in the side. We need guys who have this work ethic who are willing to put in more to get off the rookie list while Jackson, Moore and Co. take advantage of the fact their already on the list and slacken of because of it.

I'm trying to get you to go easier on him here and instead you went in harder:D . Now he's weak and small and in his mid twenties when he was only in his early twenties a few posts ago! lol
I get what you're saying, but disagree- the height arguement doesn't wash- plenty of good players in the game today are small. He needs to bulk up and will never be the prototype of a perfect wingman, but he did well in his games last year and that is all he should be judged on. Anyway, he is 182cm- that's the same height as Nathan Brown who has had a pretty good career and taller than Tyson Edwards, Aker, McLeod, Murphy, Stevens, Rhys Shaw, Licuria, Braun, Cousins, Flecther, Kerr- and I can't be bothered looking at any more than 6 teams. He's no champion, but he is a good kid who could develop into a 100 plus gamer and his height won't hold him back.

I like foley, but his skills can be a worry sometimes. Has pace over howat though so in the Wallace gameplan hes gonna get more opportunities.

I'm stoked for the bloke. He was always one of the most determined blokes down at Box Hill and he developed over the course of a few years, from a VFL 2's player to a solid VFL seniors player.

Plenty of ability in him.
