His kicking isn't his strength? What the? After Hill, he's the best kick in the team. Especially over a long distance. Makes good decisions too.

Just an opinion, he kicks more floaters than anyone in the team. I know stats won't show that as he has a good DE% but sometimes he gets it horribly wrong.

Mundy, Pav, Duffield are all ahead of him in terms of kicking. And Johnson, Walters, Ballantyne would probably be better too.

Johnson was shocking on the weekend for disposal. Well below his best, I reckon he turned it over at least 2-3 times that resulted in goals.

Sutty's kicking is bloody sublime and the only player you named I'd rather have put the ball lace out in front of me is Mundy.

And you honestly believe that very description doesn't apply to Sutcliffe?

A guy who has done it for 200 games vs a guy doing it for 50?

It might be best to keep my opinions to myself in future. Sutcliffe is best 22, he is an elite runner and very good defender, versatile who I think kicks some flour bags. That's all.

Sutcliffe has a few more strings to his bow than Duffield.
Johhno had a few moments he'd like to forget yesterday, needs to take a confidence pill or two. Also eased up when chasing the Hawthorn player seemingly running into an open goal before the wonky bounce.

Yeah, but he could be forgiven for thinking that he wasn't going to catch him and that a goal was imminent.

Yeah on the weekend he didn't kick that great but that was partly due to him trying to find an opening (lowering the eyes) and allowing a Hawk to pressure his kick. Over the journey, Johnson is a good kick.

Just LOL... He takes the game on and sometimes it doesn't come off but he does not kick up and unders or flour bags..

That comment makes me think you've possibly never watched a freo game in your life.

Or maybe I just don't think the sun shines out of all of our players asses and every player we have is perfect and doesn't make mistakes. If it was we wouldn't lose a game ever and be heading for back to back flags.

Perhaps I watch each game,
sometimes twice because you can miss things the first time around in the heat of the battle.

I remember Mark Gale & Ashley Prescotts up & unders, I remember Steven Dodd's flour bags. Cam isn't a bad kick but IMO (which my mum says I'm allowed to have) he needs to work on it, one recently I can recall was a kick out vs Carlton that if it had gone to anyone other than Cam Wood there would have been another Carlton goal.

You're carrying on like I've said Cam is a dud who can't hit the side of a barn.

Dockerland is that way...

I have Hill and Walters on the top line of kicking ability in our team. Both have magic vision, great penetration and as has been mentioned that magical ability to weight the ball so it takes the exact arc it needs to land at the exact right moment. Rioli does it too.
The next line under that has Mundy, Duffield and at times Johnson on it. I suggest Sutty belongs on that line too as evidenced by the fact he's taken over a lot of the kicking in from Duffield and MJ.
The thing is there is pure mechanics and then there is live fire. As has been noticed by many, Dan Pearce kicks it better than anyone most of the time at training but seems to panic and kick a few absolute howlers come game day.
The ones that do it down back including the switch and the kick in after a point have to have what I call fighter pilot nerves. The ability to execute at elite level under the most severe pressure.
Stephen Hill can ease a ball through the middle at half post height from 55 on the run but often chokes on his set shot. Mundy is the same, he can hit a fly 50 away breaking out of the centre but I groan when I see him taking a shot on the run. Barlow shanks his kicks all over the place but I'd put money on him 9 times out of 10 from a set shot.
Everyone has different skills. Sutcliffe has excellent mechanics, good vision and fighter pilot nerves. He completely makes a mess of one now and then but then he gets straight back on the bike and goes for an equally difficult kick 1 minute later. He's starting to make a lot more than he misses now, not even 50 games into his career. That'll do me.

LOL I'm watching the replay now, and I'm in the fourth quarter. Not one floubag. Not one. FWIW, I watch repays of every game. Cam stuffs up like everyone else, but flourbags? Morra - flourbag kicks, Clancee Pearce - flowerbag kicks. Cam Sutcliffe, not so much.

this kids delivery into the 50 was excellent he kicks low and pin point to forwards compared to muzunbgu, pearce C. or Suban.

i rate his delivery as one of the best at freo, behind mundy, fyfe etc.

Nice to see Cam snubbed by the AFLPA best under 23 list. He is the best running defender in the league under 23 given the list they have chosen.

Real shame for a player having such a good year.

9 member players panel. They selected Jarman Impey and Tom Langdon among others as defenders.

Lachie Neale made it and Sutcliffe is going much better than he is. Fyfe is 2 weeks too old
