Are we sure May didn't get pissed and wind him up?

Anyways, I agree that it's probably a good thing to see him go. Doens't set a good example to our kids (even if he does bring a good brand of toughness to the game) and it gives an opportunity to one of our younger guys. Didn't expect Brown to still be playing by the time we challenge for a flag, anyway.

Really have to wait for Campbell's side of the story because I cast judgement. He needs a really, really good excuse for king hitting a team mate but for all we know maybe May did something so reprehensible that a reasonable person would have reacted in the same way as Campbell.

There is literally no excuse for smacking a teammate. None.

Be the bigger man and walk away if hes talking shit.

Agreed but we should at least give him the benefit of the doubt until the club releases more information.

Maybe May's jaw fell into Brown's fist? ... The straws mate, let me clutch at them!

Yeah I know how your feeling. This really shits me off after a positive start to the off-season.

Joke isn't it. First heard it on the road and assumed it was some training accident. If only.

If we do flick Browny off, are we out of a senior position? Upgrade a rookie?

Boston gets the upgrade every day of the week IMO. I have massive hopes for the kid.

May has a good 10cm and 10kg on poor Browny, that's not possible.
Still love Browny to bits - hope there's more to this for his sake.

I dont think it's reasonable to take the moral high ground on this. They might be teammates, but in the professional environment they're more like work colleagues. Think about your work place and I'll be surprised if there's no one you work with that you wouldnt want to smack around once in a while. I'm not trying to defend Brown but I do want to hear the full story. If it is over something as ridiculous as a bar tab, Brown's an idiot and will get his just punishment, but if May did something exceptionally provocative, for example a lewd comment about Brown's wife, then I dont think it'd be unreasonable for Brown to be provoked to the extent he throws a punch. The AFL tribunal even has form on this, as a couple of years back they let Des Headland off a striking charge because he was provoked by Adam Selwood making a sexual reference about his daughter.

The media is saying there were 5 other players present so the club is going to wait to hear their side of the story before making a final decision early next week.

I just hope Brown isnt judged to please the PC crowd.

I hope he is judged by a panel of respected ex-players who understand the different pressures and social environment that elite teams of men experience when they enter a 'warrior brotherhood'.

These men are not sooks. They are the best of the best. The toughest, most motivated. They arent hairdressers.

Sport is after all, a replacement for war.

Would you sack a special services soldier for punching another? Their lives really arent that much different.

From what I understand (now), is that May was taunting/baiting Josh Gibson. Then Brown stepped in.

Makes no difference who baited who, who said what. Professional sportsman representing the club, Brown simply had yet another massive brain fade, he must be sacked. He broke the law, should be charged, any inkling of role model status he had left is now gone. 1 punch can kill.

If I may say something on your team board......
Maybe people should wait until all facts are heard
Maybe Brown is an idiot and should be sacked, or maybe there was a damn good reason why May will be sucking soup through a straw for a few weeks!
Hold fire till your club makes an announcement

And if you put footballers up on a pedestal as role models in life you need to get out more!

While I guess it would be understandable if Brown cops the brunt of this due to his experience and supposed leadership, I don't think Mays involvement should go unnoticed either. People are saying Brown should have pushed him and walked away, what if he did and May kept coming at him? Because Brown was the better fighter/landed the better punch, he's the one who has to cop all the shit?
Should at least wait for details before making a judgment on who should be sacked/who should be charged etc.

For me anyway, in the meantime, I do think back to the Thailand? incident where Brown/Weller and a couple of others were arrested. Was minor IIRC, but still, not a great look. Meanwhile, Gary Ablett was in Melbourne, doing 'ambassador' type work for the Suns and visiting sick kids in the Melbourne RCH. Spoke volumes about the leadership and professionalism between the two.

But still, before we find out who did what and why, Brown shouldn't be cut loose from the fanbase (Suns and AFL in general) just because the other bloke ended up with an injury.

Yes they are.

Nice to see all the sour grapes from Hawthorn supporters over him leaving are all still there though.

All it is at the moment is scuttlebutt and hearsay.

I don't think there is any sour grapes from Hawthorn - he was a premiership player for them, and they have won a premiership since he left. Why would they care anymore?

Agree with your second point though - scuttlebutt and hearsay, yet we have the cross, hammer and nails being readied in some corners.

No one will ever by cynical of Ablett going to GC for money because he used the move to take his game to a new level and he has represented badly needed representation where it was needed.

Brown on the other hand will go down as one of these guys who took a cash deal for this after football life.

Hard to argue with that - but in saying so you have to admit he has shown more heart and determination then most while onfield
