These days he's worse than Papley IMO. Doesn't even pretend to play footy anymore

Today was a new low, even by his standards.

Sh*t bloke.

2018 GF thought I had the other day. The way we control games in the final 5 minutes, especially close games is so different than the the shite kick from Treloar to McGovern (the play that spiked the thought 😂)
You just triggered my PTSD.

Doesn't matter. Our time machine is almost finished. We can go back and cha get the result.

I’m hearing rumblings that the season is now boring because the top nine is so far ahead of the bottom nine and what the afl should do to fix this problem.

There is no problem as I see it.

Looking at the top 9
Freo and Crows have not played finals for a while
Suns have never played finals
You can throw a blanket between 2 and 9 on the ladder
Dogs have one just two premierships and looking good
Good mix of interstate teams and vic teams
And Collingwood are due more premierships and finally an “ era” after decades of pain!

And looking at the bottom 9
Carlton has played finals including a prelim recently
West coast is the most successful interstate franchise just having a rebuild
Sydney played in the GF last year
Richmond just won three flags
Port have played plenty of finals recently
Essendon always competive and will bounce eventually although no non Sheedy finals wins since before the moon landing is hilarious

With the exception of north and stkilda, the afl is in great shape. Any team can win it sooner or later. Will be in even better shape when Geelong finally drop out of the eight and when Hawthorns recent resurgence proved to be a mirage!

A lot of meaningless games left though.

In the 2023 Finals doco, after the GF on the ground Nick makes a comment to Fly along the lines of "didn't think we'd do this so early"

Obviously we set out a plan for when we'd be playing and (hopefully winning) grand finals. Was 2023 our Hawks 2008? This draft we'll have some top talent coming through with Father/Son and NGA to replace Pendles, Sidey etc over the next few years.

Exciting to think what's ahead for our club 😊

That often happens, just the way the cookie crumbles ( or in this case, just the way Carlton crumbles!) Can’t stand the thought of a consolation pre finals finals series as if it will add any appeal to games.
Nah, this year more than most of the recent ones. A lot of dead rubbers between now and September

It’s still the way the cookie crumbles….

Edit. Just did some quick numbers. This year definitely looks like an anomaly. After round 18, the tenth placed side is 3 games out of the eight and the fourteenth placed side is 5 games out of the eight.

Between 2011 and 2024 the tenth placed side averaged 1 game out of the eight and the fourteenth placed side averaged 3 games out of the eight.

Obviously ignoring percentage…

So while this year looks like the run home will have more dead rubbers, that in itself doesn’t mean the game is in trouble. It’s just how results have fallen this year.

I remember that and thought the same thing.
I feel we've beaten our early 2000's nemesis in Brisbane. Next will be accounting for the 2011 travesty (Geelong this year) - I have even dreamt of Crispy winning it with a kick after the siren and the story that would encapsulate the turnaround from the Round 8 game.
Make it so, Pies!
