Patiently waiting for the long winded post from hk89 about how Hawthorn actually beat GWS and are on track to win the 2020 premiership.

Well we are 3-2 with the hardest draw on paper of any team so far, and still in the 8 (oops:9th after dropping %). From that point of view we are not doing too badly.

Was a bad loss today, but 1 fit player on the bench by the end made it hard for us. Umpires giving Clarko the middle finger with 10 htb - 2 despite GWS having only 2 more tackles was amusing to watch.

We certainly looked 1 tall defender and 1 tall forward short of a decent team tonight. GWS produced the most efficient display inside 50 of all time and only won by a bit over 5 goals, but I'm not sure if that flatters GWS or is a poor reflection on our defensive effort - probably a bit of both - their delivery inside 50 was pretty good.

Sorry to disappoint, I don't have anything more long winded than that to say at the moment.

Not sure Hawthorn have a leg to stand on complaining about the umps tonight. 2 of your goals were directly from extremely dubious free kicks and you only kicked 7.

Both were in our best, Mitchell really turned it up and smashed GWS in a space of the second with clearances and gave us life, Worpel had the hard Tag and did some great things and worked hard all game. If anything we need another Worpel/Mitchell and look at maybe Henderson who's not doing much or TOB who's watching his defender take uncontested marks

Didn't help the margin, but with less scoring shots than your opposition, this isn't usually a leg worth trying to stand on.

Replacing O’Brien or Lewis with Patton is just shuffling the deck chairs. Will make 0 difference.

Liked Jones’s debut but again, he isn’t ever going to be a star. Same as howe, cousins, Hanrahan, Morrison...just average afl footballers.

Mitchell returning has hurt worpel this season which is a shame. Worpel’s numbers are still decent but he’s become just a average inside mid.

Sicily and Hardwick are our other solid “young players” but again, Sicily has been incredibly inconsistent and Hardwick plays a role which in today’s footy isn’t going to help win your team games.

Omera has been a big disappointment. I couldn’t care less what our supporters think. He plays one very good game every 5 games. He’s a B grade midfielder, which is fine but not for what we gave up. This is what he is going to be due to his knee. Our supporters that think otherwise are delusional.

The McEvoy back and ceglar ruck has been a disaster. Again, I don’t care what our supporters say, there is no way you can justify that move. Ceglar is a bottom 3 ruckman in the league, McEvoy was top 6....

Wingard has been our best player this season and can’t begrudge the club for chasing him and giving up what they did. He’s a match winner and pure class.

Clarko and co have a huge job ahead...midfield has zero depth and forward line is worse...

Puopolo, O’Brien, Stratton, Lewis, Henderson, jones, ceglar and scully wouldn’t make most current teams best 22 and they are currently playing most weeks for us.

Yes I’m sure having Lewis who hadn’t had a kick, Shiels who had done absolutely nothing and scrimshaw play out the game would have made a difference.

You’re right about impey. He was a huge loss. But again, impey isn’t helping this current team challenge for the flag...he will be coming back from an ACL...Hopefully ceglar, who the club gave a 4-year deal to on big coin gets dropped when he returns and McEvoy plays sole ruck.

Impey is also missing from our best 22 (Is a top 10 player for us last year) and Lewis would get a game at a lot of teams but just seems out of form at the moment.

Big Boy is playing at a high level and Frawley has been really solid tbh. Stratts and poppy have been for a very long time now though.

Frawley has been very consistent and one of the games best defenders since coming to hawthorn...don’t put him in that list. He rarely is beaten. He’s a gun defender.

McEvoy isn’t cooked. He’s being played out of position. Not his fault. Swap him with ceglar.

You can also throw in Tom scully.
